It is politically part of the Northern Mindanao Region of the country and formerly a part of Misamis Oriental province.

The island-province of Camiguin is a pear-shaped volcanic island in the northern tip of Mindanao. It is approximately 90 kilometers north of the City of Cagayan de Oro. It is bounded to the north by Bohol Sea, to the west by Macajalar Bay, to the southeast by Gingoog Bay and to the east by Butuan Bay.

It is well worth the time to visit Camiguin Island. Accessible from Cebu by air in 50 mins, or ferry from Mindanao. I understand there are also flights now from Manila.
There are many natural wonders to see from Waterfalls, hot and cold Springs, Volcanos, white island, coral and sea life to the man made things like Sunken Cemetery and many old buildings.
There are plenty of places to stay on the island at all different prices and levels of quality. Eating out is not a problem either, with many, many places all over the island.
A visit of about 3-4 days should allow time to see and do most of the attractions and things on the island.

Visited this small island off the main island of Camiguin after lunch. It was quite sunny but the island offered refuge as it had trees all over and the visitors' area with tables and chairs was under the trees.
Had a quick swim in the warm clear waters but it was quite shallow since we were there during low tide. The sand was white and fine but the beach had a lot of corals. Wearing beach shoes is recommended.
One can have food cooked in the island. There is also a small store selling drinks and other essentials. For an additional fee, one can visit the marine sanctuary near the island which houses corals and vibrant marine life.
Definitely one of the attractions to visit in Camiguin.

that day, except for the few fishermen who parked their boats, we were the first tourists in this white island. and we had the whole sandbar all to ourselves for at least 15 minutes before the next batch came. it was a surreal experience witnessing the sun rose in an isolated place.
this attraction should not be missed by any tourist visiting Camiguin. it’s one place that would make you feel grateful of the blessings in your life. that was the wonder of the white island.

Visited this Waterfalls in the early morning. The water was so cold and not recommended for swimming although a lot of locals frequent this during the weekend for picnics. The Waterfalls is quite high and drops down to a pond. It is cool as the wind carries the drops of water to the surrounding area. The place is not too large and could get crowded on some days.
If you want to enjoy the view, visit early in the morning like we did. There was no one else in the place and we were able to enjoy it.

This is such a solemn place. It has the deepest green body of water. The water is very cold. There are benches available in the vicinity and for Php 35 entrance fee, you get to enjoy the place. You wouldn't want to miss submerging in this ice cold place!

The whole capital of Camiguin, with its cemetery, sunk under the sea. In the following years, the sunken land and the gravestones can still be seen. when the tide is low. But in 1948 until 1953, Mount Vulcan erupted again, sinking the whole area deeper, to around twenty feet. In 1982, a large cross was built on the solidified lava to mark the site that became the graves of the ancestors of the Camiguin people. Have great pictures in this spot especially in the late afternoon. There is a guy there wearing a photography shirt that directs awesome pics without asking for anything. But you would enjoy his pics so much that you end up giving him a tip for his efforts.
You can use a bangka (small boat) to go to the sunken cemetery if you opt to really go to the area.

We visited this attraction during lunch time, hoping that the hot sun would dispel some of the coldness of the water. We were wrong. The spring water in the pool was really cold, it was like swimming in water straight out of the freezer! After the first dip, however, the swim becomes enjoyable and refreshing. The pool is rather deep, from 3 ft. to 7 ft. There is a smaller shallow pool for children where the water seems even colder.
One can order food from the restaurants around the area and have this delivered to your table inside. There are shops selling drinks, chips and souvenirs all around. Chairs, tables and huts can also be rented.

I hired a guide, since I was a solo traveler.
This hike was: 9km, highest point 1100m, slippery boulders, very steep ascend. This is not a hike to be done by beginners, and it is very challenging. The total time for us was about 6 hours, including breaks.
We came across a huge bee hive, and took a different route during our ascent. I highly recommend a guide, because of this, and also the trails is not marked.
At the summit, the view was amazing. Worth the hard work.

You will enjoy the informative tour around the place. Their are different kinds of clams and oysters with different ages. The free swimming area is such a happy place, most especially if you have snorkeling goggles with you. You can see different corals and fishes even if you are just near the shore! Very enjoyable! They also serve food if you want to eat.

It is sad to note that the water in Ardent Hot Spring is just a little warm now. Some guests informed us that years before the spring is really hot , now it is not the same.
