Located in a small town this family run hotel was perfect for us to sample the local scenery and attractions Located adjacent to a ruining monastery that is interesting to walk around and close to the park. The pool was a little too cold for my wife but OK for me after a sauna. Room OK but a little basic. Typical for the area

The interesting part of Burg Zavelstein is the small road to the former castle. There are side by side tiny houses which are more then 400 years old. The church is a beautiful wedding chapel.

Hello all,
I visited the "Bergwerk Neubulach" just recently in September for a friends birthday. He Chose this place to get people out for a while before going back to his place for dinner. We had a bunch of kids with us, who loved to see this place. It is an old silver and mineral mine and for a very reasonable amount of money you get to go on a tour and have the history and techniques explained. we had a very lovely girl show us around. She was very friendly and nice and had many things to tell us.
If you have kids, this is a fun visit.

Hirsau Schloss

Reviewed By folieske4 - Antwerp, Belgium

It is located next to the monasterial ruins but as one is securing the ruins again one is not allowed to go inside, a pitty but understandable. It is a big part of the monasterial ruins of Hirsau Abbey. In 1586 - 1592 had the Württemberg Duke Ludwig von Württemberg, had a three wing-Castle in the Renaissance style built next to the ‘Klausure’ at the Abbot house (architect Georg Beer). Destroyed by French troups in 1692 as castle and monastery were set on fire. First, however, mostly roofs were missing, until 1808 the masonry of castle and monastery also disappeared, it was used for the reconstruction of Calw. Of Castle and cloisters only walls remain, of Church and monastery only the foundations.

Castle Waldeck

Reviewed By Kent W - Huntsville, Alabama

A bit challenging to find, but only about a 30 minute walk to get there if you don't screw up. I live not too far away and always bring visitors here to get into the black forest and walk to an 11th century castle ruine that few people see. The forest is growing over the site, but the burgruine is still easily accessible. There is a hotel/restaurant in Teinach Station, which you will see on the road between Calw and Zavelstein. Park across the street from the hotal and take the trail across the stream and up the hill. Near the top you will see a clearing with signs that point the way to Burgruine Waldeck.

Hermann Hesse Museum

My mother & her partner loved this museum, despite not being able to read German. The museum houses a vast collection of books, photographs & memorbillia on Herman Hesse, his life & family which would interest any fans of the author.
I would have found it more interesting if it wasn't so hot, to the extent that i had to go back downstairs to the cooler floor and wait for my family.
The shop has a good selection of goods including books & calenders and the staff were friendly & helpful.
Admission is normally €5 per person but there are discounts for seniors and those with the Black Forrest Guest Card given out by hotels in the region.
The museum is closed on Mondays.

Burg Liebenzell

Reviewed By guestwithstandards - Spain

In the Black Forest, Swabia, Baden-Wurtenberg, the essentials of life - such as food and wine - are usually of a good standard though rather expensive. The Burg Liebenzell Cafe Restaurant takes charges to its own spectacular height.
However the service is always pleasantly efficient, the ambience warming, the views spectacular and the fodder of top quality. Wine comes in traditional small individual decanters and is of excellent quality. The regional Baden-Wurtenberg wines are blessedly unlike the over oaked French vaieties and pehaps smoother than boisterous Spanish Reds; on the other hand a dry white is not usually available.
There is a pleasing variety of tortes and cakes on offer.
The Burg Liebenzell terraces give a splendid opportunity for views over this charming locality but on an Autumn day the traditional Restaurant is the place to wine and dine.

Marienkapelle

Reviewed By duck8to - Montville, New Jersey

Located in Wurzburg Marketplatz, Saint Mary's Chapel is a late Gothic period hall church (1377-1481). It is noted for it's elaborate ornamentations, especially in the arches of it's doorways. The figures of Adam & Eve are replicas of Tilman Riemenschneider's work. His work is noted for it's skillful realism and intense emotional expression and he is regarded was one of the great master's of his time. The originals can be found in the Mainfrankischer Museum, also in Wurzburg. Also note worthy are four panels of paintings in the altar area dating to 1514. The Beautiful Madonna (1420) and Silver Madonna (17th century) are on the display. You can find numerous tombstones of Franconian Knights, citizens of Wurzburg and the great architect Balthasar Neumann (1687-1753) whose work can be found throughout Germany.. Among the important tombstones is that of Konrad von Schaumberg who died in 1499. The wood engraving of Schaumberg is a creation by Riemenschneider. Marienkapelle is a UNESCO WORLD HERITAGE SITE.

Kurpark

Reviewed By TazTravelr - Princeville, Hawaii

We were visiting Bad Liebenzell for a conference and my son and I were looking for something to do while my wife was in the conference. We found the park right along the little river in the heart of town.
They had a great area for kids with a slide, zip line, water feature. Sand box (no toys) and climbing area.
The park had a few Fountains and there was a mini golf area just across the river from the kids playground.
We were disappointed when we showed up at 10 am to the mini golf and it said that they don't open until 1:00 pm.
