November 28, 2017 Elouise Mccaul

Majorca has many beach towns, but if you like your sunny holiday served with a touch of history on the side, you should definitely consider Calvia. Homes and churches date from the 17th century (and earlier), and there are even the remains of a Roman villa.

1 or 2 things do need improving tho,the wifi is not standard in rooms and needs to be accessed in the reception area,it was very weak/slow&frustrating to deal with
on the group rides, there was no food given out by the staff, except what you had to pay for at the local cafes& this was not cheap either, surely, some bananas/energy bars could be given out either on the ride stop or at the hotel before we set off

The Iberostar Group new 5 Star hotel
had recently opened.
We had lunch in their Astir Restaurant, overlooking the small very attractive beach.
Charming friendly and helpful staff.
A fairly limited but very pricey menu.
The food was promptly served and well presented.
An extensive wine list.
Because of its almost unique position the restaurant and the hotel with its super rooms and some with magnificent sea views.
Not a place for the financially feint hearted!!
Would we go back, yes , but for drinks

We spent a few gorgeous hours wondering around this small but beautiful formed resort in Mallorca. There is a small beach a few restaurants for refreshments. There are some lovely shops and some beautiful looking hotels. We had lunch at a beach side bar sat looking at the beautiful scenery and of course people watching.

Pay the entry fee - so many visitors just walk around the outside of the Cathedral but there is lots to see inside - yes the real photo opportunities are best on the far side of the lake - that way you see the structure at its best - but the inside is very powerful !

Get there early which is about 10-10.30pm so you can get a nice table or standing place. Don't worry it will be rammed later and the dance floor will be kicking it. Lovely atmosphere and clientele and the live music Saturday nights should not be missed. It's not for teenagers, it's a more mature atmosphere and is more expensive than the bars you will find in Magaluf (thank god). Dress code is very smart casual and this is the place to go if you want to gather round a large bottle of gin or Greygoose or champagne and party with some pretty cool and very nice people. Oh and a pretty lovely view across a harbour full of very nice boats helps, plus all the glasses and mixers are premium quality. Great place to go for groups or couples, get there or regret it !
