This Rizal Shrine is the home of our Philippine national hero, Dr. Jose Rizal and where he was born. A historical place and a must visit of all Filipinos in all ages. Located in the center of Calamba City. Kudos to the management that continues to maintain this important place clean, beautiful, updated and interactive.
Highly recommended to friends, family and foreign visitors.

Although many of those traveling further south would often pass by and enjoy the area, many travelers have likewise made this their sole destination. For those just stopping over for a quick meal, Nuvali’s Solenad which is home to numerous dining options and retail shops is the ultimate stopover area. For those planning to enjoy more of what Nuvali has to offer can have their fill of the tree-lined streets, bike trails, the 4-hectare multifunctional lake, the Wildlife and Bird Sanctuary, tree nursery and demo farm, The Fields at Nuvali, and the Repulic Wakepark. Where to bike, jog, shop, eat out, fish, wakeboard, picnic, camp, attend events, etc. in one place? Nuvali offers all these and more! And it's very near Manila - just be prepared for some serious traffic along the way.
I remember a few years ago, our company had a tree planting activity in Nuvali when no structures were visible yet. I'm very happy to see that some of the seedlings we planted have now become trees that give shade and beautify the place. Still more trees are needed, especially in the parking areas near the highway where cars fry under the hot, tropical sun. It's free parking though.
There are also outlet stores where you can snag good deals on name brands like Nike, Adidas, etc. While there are lots of restos, these can get crowded real fast during lunch time and dinner on weekends - and they close early in the evening (7-8 p.m.). A more affordable alternative is the open air eateries in Paseo de Sta. Rosa just across Nuvali Solenad area.
We have been there several times and still yet to try the other activities. So we'll be back again and again - for special activities like the Magical Garden of Lights they had last Christmas season. Just be prepared for the crowds and the long walks on uneven ground. Wear comfy shoes - always!

This review is quite late. I used to frequent Mount Makiling when I was still working in the Philippines. It is a favorite choice for office conferences and other functions. There are scores of resorts located along the hilly slopes of Mount Makiling but beware there are lots of snakes in the area.

Padre Pio was born in a small town in Pietrelcina, Italy on May 25 1887 to a very religious family. He joined the Capuchin Order when he was fifteen years old. He was ordained to the priesthood at age 23. He was in poor health but he suffered gladly because he has a Mission from God. He was praying before a crucifix on Sept 20, 1918 when the stigmata - the wounds of Jesus Christ - appeared on his feet, hands and side. He silently suffered the pain of his wounds for fifty years. He was canonized on June 16, 2002..He is believed to do miracle healings and his Shrine is visited by thousands every year. Don't miss if you are in the area.

Small but very cool museum featuring glass and other scultpture works of Orlina. Take the guided tour, it's only 30 mins or so but gives a lot of good info. If you're in Tagaytay I would definitely stop here (and skip some of the other attractions which aren't nearly as interesting).

Gratchi's Getaway Farm have thought everything you need for a bonding with friends. Can also be for kids for they have playground, swimming pool to enjoy at. They have packages wherein snacks and lunch are included all you need to do is to bring yourself and enjoy the amenities. We got the low ropes package but apparently realized high ropes are more worth the long drive. Low ropes consists of monkey bars and the likes while high ropes are the exciting ones: zipline, ledge rope. It takes time and they have staffs who will assist everyone every step of the way. It was fun! A bit pricey for when we upgraded our package have to pay another fee. Have to pay for the entrance of my 4 yrs old and 9yrs old kids. Despite that they only swim in the farm.

It was a short nature trip for me on the day that I visited this place.
The place was remote but surprisingly there was a road right up to the spot.
It was raining and one of the caretakers gladly accompanied me to take a look at what they have to offer.
There was a main restaurant area, a round pavilion, tent area, camp grounds, zipline and a small picturesque chapel. Right at the background were Mts. Banahaw and Cristobal.
The outdoor restaurant is being constructed/renovated and, when finished, it would surely be a nice spot to hang around.
The place was very relaxing. No need for airconditioning because the temperature was very cool, perhaps cool enough even during summer.

Taal Lake Yacht Club's goal is to create environmental awareness through environmentally friendly sports. We run Taal Volcano trips and treks, and have sailboat and kayak rentals for both members and non members. We run Regattas and have boat storage for members. Weddings, Birthdays, Corporate events are by special arrangement. Accommodation can be arranged but for most, we are a daytrip from Manila. We (usually) have free wifi. We are pet friendly- as long as your pet is too.

We just went there to kayak.
This facility should be shut down for negligence of their guests' safety.
They wouldn't stop you nor warn you if a thunderstorm was coming. A foreigner from a next door resort screamed at us to go back because a thunderstorm was coming.
When we were parking our kayak, our supposed guide/guy assigned to help us (Julius) wasn't even there at the shore. So if anything had happened to us during our boat ride, no one would have bothered to help.
Thick algae (lumot) covers the resort front and it was slippery to get down from our kayak. Not one person assited us until we got angry. Old guys who looked liked lazy staff just looked on.
Oh it was horrible and no one should go there. This facility should be shut down for safety reasons.

We went to Republic Wake Park a couple of times during our recent vacation. For approximately $5 per hour, and a $10 refundable deposit for the helmet and life-vest, you get to ride around in either the beginner or advanced lakes. You cannot bring in any outside food or drinks though. My recommendation is to go when it first opens so the line should be smaller. How often you get a turn to wake-board depends on the number of people in line. They only have 1 area for beginners. Make sure you also bring your own towels and soap/shampoo so you can clean-up afterwards.
