Oldshoremore Beach

Pristine sands , stunning and unspoilt. Access from small car park and follow the track uphill to the left of the cemetery then follow the track down the other side. There are toilets in the car park but they were locked out of season. It is hard to choose from the Beaches of the North West Highlands but this is hard to beat.

I have been here on a few occasions, and it never fails to fill my heart with its beauty.
If you are visiting top North of Scotland, this really is a place to visit, but please try and spend some time here, go for a long walk on the Beaches, they are beautiful from the road side, but getting down there and experiencing them, well you will never forget them.

Sandwood Bay

Reviewed By MrsSulkyGirl - Edinburgh

I've always wanted to visit Sandwood and have put it off in previous years, but the more I heard and saw of the beach, I was determined to make the trip. And, I'm so glad I did! It's mythological - mermaids, ghosts, a Spitfire wreck - but it's the overwhelming natural beauty of the place that makes it's a must.
The track out there is maintained by the John Muir Trust, and while it's uneven in places, it is in no way taxing for able bodied travellers. It is a 4 mile or so walk, and the and weather can change so take waterproofs!
There's WCs at the nearest car park at Blairmore, and this is the closest you'll get a vehicle to the beach. Enjoy the walk and the lovely sands, the sea stack and the mile long beach. Stunning!

Achmelvich Beach

Reviewed By NorthernHeatseeker - UK

We travelled quite a way to visit this beach and it didn't disappoint. It was the most beautiful, cloudless February day and the colour of the sea took my breath away. We almost had the beach completely to ourselves, it felt very special to be there.
The lovely white sand is very clean and it is so nice just to take a bit of time here enjoying the beauty. My other half took a quick stroll over the little hill to see the neighbouring, equally gorgeous little beach.
The single track road here was quiet when we visited, would imagine it can get busy in the summer months. Unfortunately on the day of our visit the Ladies toilet was locked. Had to use the Gents which unfortunately were both quite blocked up, although there was loo paper and paper towels!
So glad we went as it is just a magical place.

Duncansby Head

Reviewed By Larry B - Prince George, Canada

From the parking lot to the cliffs above the stacks is a bit of a stroll through a fences pasture. We had a mostly sunny day for it but the general path was muddy in some spots and if just wandering through the field there are some low spots that are pretty wet to cross. I would imagine that the pictures would be more appealing than the real thing on a wet and windy day.

Dornoch Beach

Reviewed By margaret h - Leeds, United Kingdom

Beautiful, wild, unspoilt, expansive and just gorgeous. Cannot describe this beach any other way. It’s easy to park anywhere along the back of the beach in any of the dune car parks. You can literally walk fo miles whether the tide is in or out as you can move to the paths in the dunes and grasses. The sea can be pretty wild at times but is impressive too. Any time of year this place is awesome so why not go have a walk and take in the gorgeous fresh air.
