Well, it used to be kind of dirty and mostly fun. Now it's just dirty and disappointing. We visited again this past weekend. The kids' pool area was very cold because the water heater was broken. The front desk was aware of this problem, but when we paid for our tickets at 4pm (to do the evening only) and they saw we had TWO children, I think it would have been the ethical and moral thing to tell us that a huge part of our visit would not be possible. Unfortunately, no one told us, and we paid.

I immediately asked a lifeguard if the heater was broken in the kids' pool area. She said she didn't know and would ask her manager. After a while, I asked her what was happening with the pool. She said she still hadn't talked to her manager. The lifeguards are always rotating, so the next lifeguard came around and I asked him. He said he couldn't speak much English...so, I went to the front desk. They instantly told me they knew the heater was broken. (Ummm...that would have been good information 30 minutes ago). I asked them if they were going to fix it, and I was told it would be fixed.

The kids played and had fun, as kids do. We noticed that many of the water features were no longer in working condition. Spray guns don't spray or twist as they should, etc. The locke facility in general was dirty. The facility was also very cold in certain areas. It wasn't a warm 84 degrees throughout as advertised. By the time we left at 7, the kids' pool was still broken and cold. We kept hoping the pool heater was going to be fixed. No one offered an apology, let alone a refund.

In all, we were discouraged with this visit. When you are skiing at Boyne, Avalanche Bay is convenient and they know they have a captive audience. I think we'll be heading to Schuss Mountain next year for a change of scenery.

I've been to many of the ski resorts in Michigan. I would rank Boyne Mountain as one of the top two. We've been to Boyne Mountain several times over the years, most recently in February 2018. There is something for everyone from beginner to expert. There is also snow tubing, cross country skiing, snow shoeing, a water park, restaurants and spa on site. I would recommend Boyne Mountain to anyone in the Midwest looking to get that quick fix of skiing between trips out west.

Young State Park

We spent 1 night here on Site 228. Close to restroom and showers. Short walk to beautiful beach with spectacular sunset! Water is very warm and the beach Sandy.

Great beach for young kids! We took turns batting soft balls into the water from the beach with 4 retrieving them. Great exercise!

The sunset was super even though it was slightly cloudy on the horizon. Nice quiet fire with Smores around a kid safe fire pit. I would stay here over park on Lake Michigan if it is a little windy or cooler.

Beautiful state park! Don't think it is any.less beautiful than Petoskey state park.

Monument

At 6,992 yards with a 140 slope, this 18-hole course offers a challenge to golfers at all levels.

Reviewed By mixaconsulting - Oldsmar, Florida

We enjoyed our round of golf at the Monument. The first opening holes are really fabulous with some major elevation changes, dogleg fairways and massive bunkers. Some holes are in the valley but the majority have some elevation either uphill or downhill or major drops. The only reason we rated this as an average due to it not being as well maintained as the other Boyne course we played. It's still a very good course and golfers will definitely enjoy it.

The Alpine starts at Boyne Mountain's summit, dropping down in swoops to Deer Lake. Spectacular views are everywhere. Fairways are wide and inviting. Blind shots are nonexistent. For all of its innocence, strategic bunkers and water hazards can take their toll. Like all Boyne courses, optional tees on holes make it enjoyable whatever one's ability. Woods and spaces separate players. You'll probably encounter more furry and feathered friends than golfers.

Reviewed By daqattaq - Fort Wayne, IN

We played this course on a recent couples trip. The golf course has a nice layout. The greens are super slow and fuzzy. Overall condition is good. Some challenging holes. Pace of play was pretty good. Probably would not play again if in the area again though. Once is enough.
