Antarctica Flights

1 day sightseeing flights over Antarctica departing from Australian airports

Reviewed By Direstraits2013 - Melbourne, Australia

We flew on the Feb 12 flight out of Melbourne. The trip was extremely well organized and professional. We splurged on business class (it was a special occasion) and I would recommend this to anyone who can even remotely afford it, as the passenger to window ratio is almost 1:1, so you dont miss out on anything.
The Qantas service was superb and the commentary was excellent. We saw McMurdo Station, Scott Base, Mt Erebus, the Trans Antarctic range etc, along with spectacular scenery.
The trip exceeded the hype and the views were awesome.

Not as many flavours as expected. They could fit more in by moving the drinks cabinet. All single cones were $5 each. We had, chocolate, dark chocolate sorbet, french vanilla and peppermint with choc chips. All good. Staff were pleasant and helpful.

Wild Buggy

Have you ever wanted to drive over rough terrain? Through water obstacles? Drive over the tops of cars like a monster trucks? Get airborne over jumps? Climb hills like a 4WD? Over old wooden logs, rocks and tyres? Through crazy tunnels? THEN WILD BUGGY IS FOR YOU!

Reviewed By sirons0104 - Melbourne, Australia

I think the Wild Buggy experience would be great for young children but for the age bracket to 15 years is totally inappropriate. The website describes the course as driving over jumps, through tunnels, water obstacles and cars - bit of artistic freedom in the description. Basically the co-driver sits behind a steering wheel in which they are not technically steering, there is no use of foot pedals at all. This should be made clear prior to booking

Australian National Aviation Museum

The Museum is one of the oldest volunteer run Museums, with a collection of over 50 aircraft and engines and many relics. This is the most complete and important collection of Australian built aircraft, with some examples being the oldest surviving ones in the world

Reviewed By Ray F - Adelaide, South Australia, Australia

located at Moorabbin Airport, their collection is in three buildings plus around their grounds. Amongst the aircraft inside are a Firefly & a Sea Venom with open cockpits; Auster, Mirage & a WW2 Beaufighter. There are Information panels about the Australian Flying Corps & famous Australian aviators from that era, the story of the German raider SMS Wolf raider that operated around Australia & was supported by a sea plane, and of the Royal Flying Doctors Service. There is also a DC-9 simulator. Scattered around the yard are other aircraft many still undergoing restoration including a Canberra bomber, Douglas DC-3, Bristol Freighter, Westland Wessex & Bell Kiowa helicopters, Fairey Gannet, Gloster Meteor & a CAC Sabre. There was also Vickers Viscount that was open for inspection. Staff were friendly & informative. They have a small gift & memorabilia shops. Plan on spending at least 1 hour.
