Right in the heart of downtown Ashland, Oregon is Lithia Park, named after the lithium in the water that runs through it. Designed by the same landscape architect that designed the Golden Gate Park in San Francisco, this is a jewel. Accessible and well used by locals and visitors alike, it is especially lovely in the fall and spring. Wildlife also uses the park as no dogs are allowed, bears, mountain lions, and lots of deer have been sited and photographed.

Lithia Park on a sunny day is hard to beat, but if you are in Ashland with a child on an inclement day, there is NO BETTER PLACE to be than here.
My advice: Forget about seeing everything on offer here. Yes, each display is interactive, informing, and well designed. But face facts: your kid's interests are paramount here. If he or she is looking bored with an exhibit, and you think you've given it a fair explanation, then move on to another.
What a delight this place is!

Hot? Then head 20 minutes up !-5 to cool mountain weather. Believe me..bring a sweater AND a coat, even in summer. It can be windy, and 30 degrees cooler! Not the best skiing but a fun little family resort. I used to live in Ashland and we enjoyed all seasons on the mountain.

We brought some friends from the Bay Area up for and warm fall afternoon wine tasting in Ashland. We read chose several wineries and enjoyed them all but absolutely loved sitting in the deck sampling the 5 wines. The friendly, knowledgeable sommelier went above and beyond for service and information as we each took several bottles home. We'll definitely return with or without visitors!

Excellent wines within a beautiful and cordial setting and wonderful vistas to enjoy. We were taken care of by Kylie who prepared our flights dependent upon our tastes. The Viognier was excellent as was the Malbac. We had the bread with balsamic vinegar and olive oil which enhanced our wine tasting. One of the servers burst out in song which only added to our delightful experience. Well worth the drive and we will return

Most recent stay was 04/05/2016 - I'm "late" in posting my review ~ We camp in a "Tear Drop style RV" only 15' long w/o toilet or shower and thus rely on campgrounds facilities ~ so our critique is focused in that area.
All PROS - no CONS, just a perfect setting for a public campground without the crowding and commercialism of the private campgrounds you normally find at the KOA's or Good Sam's. The best thing is, this Jackson County public facility has full hookups, asphalt pads, sturdy well maintained picnic tables with fire ring + a newer more modern bathhouse with hot showers that have full on ceramic tiled walls ~ individual private rooms with locking doors. There is a soap dish, hooks for your stuff and a bench in each room ~ wear your clogs. You have to enter another door in same building for the restrooms and sinks [wish they had hooks and shelves in there for your stuff]. The grounds are kept neat and tidy ~and~ you have a view of the lake from every site. Best campsites are in "The Point" campground #'s 12 thru 20 are excellent, but really there's no "bad" site.
Wish they had better signage directing you to "The Point" ~ as you enter the main part of the park, there is a sign with an arrow, but it is for a different campground; you have to continue straight on the main road to reach "The Point". Also - registered campers do NOT pay the $4.00 entrance fee ~ it's included with your stay.
When / if traveling through southern Oregon, we wouldn't hesitate to stop here again ~ but strongly suggest making a reservation as it's quite popular.

Weisinger Family Winery produces limited production craft wines exclusively from local vineyards. A lovely little spot to drink some exceptional wines, eat a cheese platter and listen to some great local music. I thought the staff were friendly and knowledgeable and I was given a great vertical tasting by the winemaker Eric. Highlights were the 2011 Petit Pompadour and the Syrah which went down a little too easily.

This was my first time visiting. I had looked up art exhibits to see while in Ashland.
It was a wonderful surprise to find a well curated art space here in town.The exhibit showcased outside artists. working to an environmental theme.
So enjoyed it.

This winery is very relaxing and beautiful with it's scenic views of mountains and vineyards. It is family friendly and has some good mood music on the weekends for your dancing pleasure.
