Creative Vibe

We were finally able to do our glassblowing workshop and thoroughly enjoyed it. Ricky is a patient teacher, successfully navigating us through making 4 items each. Colour choices and sweat by us, actual talent by Ricky but at least we tried!

Ampthill Brewhouse

Ampthill Brewhouse was saved in 2015 and now brews three very 'gluggable' ales for local pubs, clubs and consumers in Ampthill and surrounding areas. We've got a great story and even better ales so come and try them and find out more about us on a tour of our microbrewery.

Ampthill Micro-Museum

Situated above Ampthill Fireplaces, the Ampthill-micro museum is the first of its kind in Bedfordshire. Detailing the past of our historic Georgian market town, Ampthill. The exhibition shows the history of the small Bedfordshire town all the way back to 1089 with its initial mentioning in King William the Conqueror’s Domesday book. Travelling through time the exhibit shows how the town was involved with King Henry VIII, the rapid redevelopment of the 1700s and many more interesting points in the towns long history. The museum also allows visitors to get hands on with history, featuring a copy of the famous book ‘Masquerade’ by Kit Williams which sent the whole country on a treasure hunt for a golden hare which was buried in Ampthill and inspired a whole generation of treasure-hunting books, this amongst other things are available to view in the museum. The museum is open 10am-5pm Monday to Friday and 10am-4pm on Saturday.

Greensand Ridge Walk

Reviewed By gourmetflaneur - York, United Kingdom

Set above Ampthill and flowing back into it at many points and linking with the Park Greensand ridge is a good for views of the surrounding area, a great place to get fresh air and to weave in and out of tree lined avenues that served eventually Houghton House and open ridges. Many dog walkers and kite flyers like this area and you can see why. Great for a stroll or as one of the routes to Houghton House.

Ampthill Park

Reviewed By Andy-S60 - London, United Kingdom

Very pleasant couple of hours wandering the footpaths of this park, where the trees were resplendent in their autumn colours in the bright sunshine. Great photo opportunities, birds and squirrels everywhere. Well marked paths. Couple of memorial crosses to Catherine of Aragon and to the Estate. Two free car parks and a cafe (currently take away only). A great morning out.
