My girlfriend and I did a private tour with Sylvestre on November 2nd and it was amazing!
Sylvestre has an obvious command of the subject and really brought to life to struggle of the soldiers who fought in France and in Belgium. We started out in Fromelles and it was hard to believe that in the beautiful, freshly plowed fields thousands of people were killed but Sylvestre took 2 steps into the field and found a piece of shrapnel in less than 5 min.
From there we went to Armentieres, Messines ridge and Hill 60, The Broodseinde ridge, the Tyne Cot cemetery at Passchendaele and the Ypres and the Menin Gate. It was my birthday and I had requested some place to have a good beer so Sylvestre made sure to find a good place in Ypres for me.
It is amazing to see the bunkers that are still in place and it was really interesting how we ended the day at the German cemetery which has a completely different feel than the Allied Cemeteries.
I highly recommend this company and Estelle answered all of my questions via email if not in minutes or hours then the following day. Sylvestre was fantastic and was able to answer every question I threw at him.

Another Fabulous Cathedral and I've finally realised that they mostly used the same Architects plans ! They are hauntingly similar, Reims, Amiens, Paris, etc. But and it is a BIG BUT each maybe similar but each is fabulous in their own right ! Amiens Cathedral is another Big example ! It was fascinating to see how they tried to protect it from shelling during the war and how precious items were removed (crying angel etc.) A beautiful house of worship !!

6 euros per adult for a 45 minute trip on a boat Seating 12 people was great value. The guide on the boat was helpful and spoke some English but didn't need to as it was easy to understand and enjoy the trip. Gets you to the hidden Gardens that you can't see from the Somme river walkway. It is open from 9 to 12.30 and 1.30 to about 5 from April to end of October.

Houses where famous people lived tend to be a bit boring. But in this case the house is fairly big, with many rooms. The rooms are all in a nice style. Within the rooms there are many exemplars of Verne's books, displayed quite nicely. There are also some nice references to his work, such as a small submarine. A lot of background information is provided. The house is not very well indicated. I practically walked past it when searching for it.

Very little English spoken by the guides, so principally aimed at the French. However, we got by, and had an interesting walk around and saw the old methods of weaving and dyeing, masonry, and coin making carried out by the guides in traditional dress, using traditional tools etc, and saw all the plants used at the time

For the cost, a great half-day out which is perfect if you have a toddler who really enjoyed it. The animals appear to be happy and well kept but bring a packed lunch as there is no cafe/restaurant [unless hidden]. We would definitely recommend as there are a fair few animals to see for €6.60 per adult and under 5's free. Enjoy :)

A lovely outdoor space with loads going on. Lots of green space and a walkway around a lake. Very well used by the local people, just for walking, sunbathing and for the children playing. From here you can follow the river to the Gardens of the Hortillanges and either queue for the boat that takes you round them or walk & see most of it for free.

I'm not usually too much into visiting cemetery but this one is really nice, if you like Père Lachaise in Paris, you would love this one too.
