The last of a series of corrals that once crisscrosses Spain. During my visit the stage and chairs had been removed. These items are used for the annual play festival. Seeing it without these items. Many corrals were renovated in the Italian style which is why this venue has such importance.
Almagro is a small town so the small space of this corral is understandable.
A museum of the history of theatre in Spain, a modern facility, adjoins the corral and is the mode of entry.

We where there mid summer and where delighted to wander around the plaza at 11pm at night and see it bustling with families and people enjoying entertainment (there had been a concert) food and generally being relaxed.. plenty of cafes and places to eat. Its yet to be commercialized and over run by tourists so it still has a great charm

I noticed that several of the photos and the reviews are not of this Teatro Municipal in Calle San Agustin but are reviews of the Corral de Comedias theatre in Plaza Mayor. (separate building with its own review page) Very confusing for any visitor to trip advisor! This theatre was beautifully restored in the 1970's. Small entrance fee - 2 euros- allowed you to visit all the different levels of the the theatre - beautiful chandelier and comfortable Seating. There are many photos on the walls showing you the theatre before restoration. The girl on the desk was very helpful and very enthusiastic about theatre and seeing the historic sights in Almagro. She spoke very good English and marked placed of interest on our map. We hadn't realised that theatre was so important and historical for this town. Wish we could have visited during the Theatre festival.

This is the only surviving example of a Spanish open air theatre from the “Golden Age.” The tour costs a mere €3 which is a bargain. You get an audio wand and are free to wander what in England we would call the stalls and the circle and upper circle. In this theatre they all had different names and different purposes. This fascinating introduction to the world of medieval touring players lasts I guess about 35 minutes or so. The commentary is clear, the English impeccable, the information absorbing. If I have one regret it was being unable to buy a book, in English, on the subject. While we tourists were wondering about taking our photos, a small band of actors were in the early stages of, in seemed to me, blocking a play. Blocking is the process of working out where characters enter and leave and where they go and what they do in between.
Highly recommended if you any interest in the subject.

This municipal-run attraction costs a couple of Euro to see, and the first "ooh" and "aah" are worth the modest price. It's all about the brightly colored and wonderfully naive fresco paintings on the walls and ceilings, and the story behind the place: The last heir to a huge family fortune wanted to fund this Augustinian monastery, but the local Jesuits fought tooth and nail for the inheritance they thought should go to them. The Agustinians soldiered on, but nobody ever really won... and now both monasteries are gone out of business!
Still, we have this pretty tribute to bygone tastes. Worth a look.

We were the only people looking round. There is not a lot to see. It is more about the buildings and the history. Was part of a discounted ticket for a number of sites offered by the tourist office.

I spent there a week for erasmus project and had my lectures there. I totally adored it cuz we were the only visiors and the whole hotl was ours. However, I wasn't satisfied with wifi. If you are at a hotel you are supposed to have wifi anywhere, especially if you are on a business trip. Wifi was ok in rooms, but at conferance halls it wasn't working.

Dit museum bevindt zich in het hart van het oude historische centrum. Er zijn veranderlijke openingsuren tijdens de verschillende seizoenen en dagen, voor inlichtingen zich wenden tot de dienst voor toerisme. De toegangsprijs is 3,00 à 5,00 €, al naargelang de grootte van de groep die gevormd kan worden.
Het bezoek wordt geleid door een gids. We zien hier een collectie van objecten en werktuigen uit vroegere tijden.

A beautiful church which for some reason has no tower. Built during the 1600's. during our visit very nicely decorated with lots of flowers. Had been several wedding the day before
