The province of Ciudad Real (pronounced [θjuˈðað reˈal]; English: Royal City) is a province in the southwestern part of the autonomous community of Castile-La Mancha, Spain. It is bordered by the provinces of Cuenca, Albacete, Jaén, Córdoba, Badajoz, and Toledo. It is partly located in the old natural region of La Mancha. Its capital is Ciudad Real. It is the third largest province by area in all of Spain, after Cáceres and Badajoz. The historic comarca Campo de Calatrava is located in the center of the province.

Well worth a visit, through wooded areas onto wooden walkways to see wildlife, lots of hides to look from, we saw geese, cornarants and ducks flying overhead, large birds, herons and even storks and its free entry

The visit of the Almaden Minining Park starts with surface mining facilities in the Visitor Center and continues through the old workshops and “San Aquilino” and “San Teodoro” shafts. Before the tour along the underground passages the visitors will visit the Mining Interpretation Centre, which will bring prior essential knowledge on the historical performance to the mining.The tour inside the mine is carried down the “San Teodoro” shaft to the 1st floor, 50 meters in depth, in a cage of mine. This is a fantastic cultural site and wonderful village. Descend into one of the world's greatest mines and walk mining galleries that are ancient. Ride a lift down a great mining shaft that is hundreds of years old. Visit various aspects of the mine and town and tour wonderful interpretive displays of mining and social systems both ancient and modern. The directors and operators of the park work very hard to make sure there is something for all interests. The mining buff will love the mine and its equipment, the historian will love the artifacts and exhibits, children are fascinated by the mercury displays that allow the liquid metal to be manipulated in different ways, sociologists will be fascinated by the human history, and environmentalists will marvel at how the largest mine in the world was cleaned up and converted to a premier interpretive center for visitors. Arriving at the first level, 150 feet below ground, the visitor walks through workings old and new and sees first hand how the ore occurs and was mined since prehistoric times. A short train ride on a real electric mining locomotive and cars for worker transport then takes the visitor back to the surface plant. Up top, there are many different themes of visitor exhibits and places to see, including the main operations of the mine, the mining hospital, the world-class technical and mining university, the old mine prison, the town, and the interesting and unusual six-sided bull ring. Restaurants and accommodations are plentiful in the town. We stayed at the Hotel Condes Fucares, which is very old and a wonderful experience sleeping in an ancient house built by Franciscan friars and then taken over and formerly used as a main residence by the famous and powerful House of Fuggar banking family. Our hosts served home-style breakfast for us and we lived like royalty. For lunch and dinner we dined at Restaurante El Cordobes, and it was fantastic. Again, we lived like royalty and dined on wonderful meats, cheeses, and vegetables, and drank fantastic Spanish wines. Almaden is a must see for anyone visiting Spain.

The city of Almagro in the 17th century was a center where the most prestigious playwrights of that time such as Lope de Vega, Quevedo or Cervantes premiered some of their works, among all the theaters that only had this one, it has been possible to preserve almost as it was at that time and that is still used today for theatrical performances as they were at that time, it is worth visiting and if possible at the festival that takes place every year in the month of July enjoy it live, located in the main square of Almagro you can take a guided tour where marvelous scenes and costumes of that time are told

Almagro was for a long time the second city in importance of La Mancha after Toledo, this is the vestige of this elegant arcaded main square, wide and surrounded by the main monuments of the city such as the town hall, the lace museum and the best comedy corral preserved today, the square opens with a monument to Diego de Almagro, who participated in the conquest of Peru and was the first to reach the lands that today form Bolivia and Chile, around the square there are a multitude of terraces to enjoy agape while enjoying its view and the people who walk, under the arcades there are several stores that offer one of the main products of the city, the lace, and many others that sell typical products of the land such as the cheeses and wines of La Mancha and the eggplants of Almagro, take your time to enjoy this outdoor munument
