This section of the Grand river is a real hidden gem. I have canoed from Caledonia to York and it is truly therapeutic. Lots of amenities in Caledonia, easy to get to and very pretty area.

We just celebrated my daughters wedding at Ruthven on Saturday. The grounds and buildings are so beautiful it makes for a wonderful garden party venue. Not only is it so pretty and picturesque, the staff are amazing to work with. Kelly was so wonderful to help with the coordinating, always very eager to answer any questions. We had the Coach house for the dinner, and it could not have been more perfect. The staff in the morning after the wedding were also very helpful with the clean up of all our things. Definitely would recommend this venue for a wedding!!

This is the Byng Island Conservation Area. I like the pond and rivers. We can bring a boat on the river. There is a playground. Even showers. Wow! There was a pond. A Must see!

First off.... if you have issues with zoos... then don't go to zoos and then write negative reviews like a troll. Conversely, if you don't have "major issues" with zoos, and want to enjoy a quiet, highly interactive time amongst well cared for animals up close and almost personal in a rich forest and stream setting befitting a jungle.... then you'd be hard pressed to find a better zoo than the Killman Zoo. I have enclosed some pictures, so do take a look. The animals at Killman are well cared for, and very accepting of human presence as seen in how brazen they are to bask openly in front of you. Only the Canadian Lynx was a wee bit "grrrrrrrrr" to us. LOL. We especially liked how "up close" you are to the cages, and again... how "chill" the big cats are with your presence around them. They are of course especially friendly and kissy with the zoo staff. LOL. A lot of bull-stuff has been written here by "others" about the cage sizes. All I can say is... IT'S A ZOO!!! I've seen cat cages smaller than the smallest cage here at major zoos!! And the fact that these big cats are rotated, given varying sized enclosures, some of which are quite huge, two levels, with ponds.... all I can say is... it's better than the big cats get at Niagara Safari, I'll tell you that. Overall... a great trip and will definitely go again. I've uploaded lotsa pics!! Have a look.

Most beautiful bridge with cement arches .Soon to be torn down and replaced.Hopefully last minute change will change this bridge from destruction.Very picturesque,spans over the Grand River with walking trails on both sides.Dont bypass Caledonia go thru town to see the bridge,the only one like it around.

Everybody like the Mudcat Statue. The Muddy is a form of channel catfish and is recognized. Here due to its longstanding association with Duvnille. The Muddy the Mudcat Statue is huge and you cannot misi t!

When my kids were young, they loved the Rock Point Provincial Park. We were lucky, the Rock point was open for 40' We hikes the whole time. I liked the flowers and the beautiful trees. At the end was the best. We remember the Rock Point. Wow!

This was my first time in Canada, but I have been camping most my life. I am most familiar with the state parks on New England, which this reminded me of. My boyfriend really wanted a provincial park, which is why we chose this. We stayed in a tent, and it was probably the nicest tent site I've ever had. It was perfect with a small opening but large space, offering some privacy. My boyfriend is convinced it is the nicest campground he's ever been to or ever will be to. We were there on a Friday night, but it was relaxed and pretty quiet. Park staff is around quite a bit checking on things which is nice. The check in staff was a little unorganized and frustrating, especially with us being so unfamiliar with the area, but they were nice enough. My only major complain was the bathrooms. There was an outhouse right across from our campsite, which although a little smelly inside, worked for me, but I really don't see why they can't have a sink there too. There was a spot with running water to fill buckets nearby, so I can't see why there can't be a sink too. It would be much more convenient and sanitary. If I were to go back I'd want a spot near the washrooms. It was a pretty far walk. The toilets and sinks in there were clean though. The shower space was nice, but water pressure was nearly nonexistent. I know that's a silly thing to worry about camping, but if you have any sort of thick or textured hair, washing it is impossible. I think I came out still a little sudsy. The highlight of course was seeing Lake Erie for the first time. It was such a nice beach area. The tide was super high for us, but I was told that was unusual. The beach was clean, private, quiet, and relaxing. I found the water to be freezing, but my boyfriend swam and found it to be an incredible experience. Hanging out by our site at night was peaceful and we didn't want to leave. An amazing area that I hope to go back to soon! We considered staying for an extra night, but we just had to much to do. I'd recommend it to anyone and I would definitely extend my stay next time.
