10 Things to do Good for Couples in Zanzibar Archipelago That You Shouldn't Miss

February 4, 2022 Sheron Bogner

A group of islands and islets some 25 miles off the Tanzanian coast, the Zanzibar Archipelago is headlined by Unguja (often referred to simply as Zanzibar) and Pemba. Once a separate nation, Zanzibar has a long history of trade with the Arab world, dating back to at least the 11th century. The capital, Stone Town, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and has many interesting historic attractions. Zanzibar's bright white beaches and nearby coral reefs make it very popular with the sun and sea set.

Cheetah’s rock in my opinion is one of the best things you can do in Zanzibar. The conservation center with amazing ethic of doing the best they can to take care of and save the animals allows you to take a look at their work, learn unique story of each animal and become a part of their lives by feeding them or playing with. The animals you will get to see are : Lemurs, Bengal Tigers, Pumas, Otters, big Turtles, a Zebra named Chaka , Lions , Bush Babies and different Monkeys! You will be able to go and sit next to a Cheetah and take photos, play with a zebra , pet a peacock, feed lemurs , turtles, monkeys abs bush babies as well as pet a Bengal tiger (all the activities are safe!) The important info: the center offers two experiences : Otter swimming for 160 USD and a walking safari for 160 USD. It is totally worth it! ( your money goes to feeding and supporting these animals). Me and my sister have only gone to a safari and it was wonderful! VERY IMPORTANT: when you go pls wear comfortable clothes , no skirts or dresses as you might fight is hard to sit on floor etc. Also, do not wear any type of big jewelry because Mona keys are rly good at spotting it and taking some straight from you neck or hair ????. ( one of the women was wearing a floor on her hair and well, monkeys were trying hard in pulling her hair and taking the flower????...). Well, after your booking you will get all the details and PLEASE read them through , it will contain a lot of useful information and it’s not long. Moreover, all the guides in your tour speak good English , which was smth I worried about because in Zanzibar people spoke English with an accent I could not understand or didn’t speak English at all apart from two-three words. P.S. I have included some pictures of what you can definitely expect at Cheetah’s rock!

I had the pleasure to visit Chumbe Island for the day, while touring around Zanzibar on a FAM trip. My only regret is that we didn’t have time to spend the night. Our next trip to the island I will definitely book for the overnight. I love the fact that the maximum occupancy on the island is 14! As a travel agent who specializes in travel to East Africa I have booked clients to this amazing coral reef sanctuary and they have all loved it. The eco-bungalows are not for everyone but if you’re a “get back to nature” or “nature lover” type of traveller then this is likely a place you’ll fall in love with. I have so much respect for the design of the bungalows and love how eco-friendly and “open-air” they are. The snorkelling was amazing and how could it not be?!? The entire project is centred around the protection of the marine life on the west coast of the island ???? ???????????????????????? The lunch served as part of the day trip was so tasty and the friendly staff really added to our experience. I really enjoyed the nature walk where we learned about the coconut crabs and we got to climb to the top of the lighthouse for an amazing bird’s eye view of this special island. I highly recommend for you to book at least two nights on this private island, to really enjoy the peace and quiet that is Chumbe. Day trips are only available for last minute bookings as space is limited for their overnight guests. Asante sana to the entire staff, we will definitely be back and I will continue to promote your island to my clients ????

We heard about Zan Island Taxi via Trip advisor and made contact with Othman via email. He was fast at responding to our queries and the booking process for our airport transfers was fast, and simple with competitive pricing. Othman is a lovely man who takes great pride in his business and pays great attention to detail to ensure that he meets the requirements of his clients. He has vast knowledge which he willingly shares about the island to help you plan your stay and provides great insights into the best places to visit and see during your trip. Throughout our stay Othman kept in regular contact with us via WhatsApp ensuring we were safe and asking if there was anything, he could do to help us. This was very reassuring especially if there were any last-minute changes to our plans we always knew that Othman would be on hand to help us and make the necessary arrangements to help us get around. Despite the name Zan Island Taxis is not just a taxi service they also provide tailored end to end tours and experiences. So If you are looking for a professional and stress free way to experience the many things on offer in Zanzibar I highly recommend using Zan Island Taxi to take all the unnecessary stress out of making your own arrangements. We asked them to arrange for us: - The Blue Safari Tour This is a half-day excursion which was organised seamlessly and provided endless opportunities to relax and just enjoy the magnificent beauty of the waters surrounding Zanzibar. This tour included return transfers from our hotel, boat transfers, excursion across the seas to the blue lagoon with its still crystal clear waters (a natural swimming pool), a BBQ lunch on the island, visit to to the dessert island in the middle of the sea and ample time for snorkelling (all equipment included) in the beautiful waters. . - Tour of Stone Town This was a fantastic half day tour around the UNESCO town with a local guide providing fantastic insights into the rich history of the town and tours of all the back streets and significant points of interest. The tour included return transfers from the hotel, guide and entrance fee to museum of slaves and the palace. - Tour of Prison Island A gentle and relaxing ride across the waters from Stone Town to Prison Island on a local dhow (boat) followed by a fun time learning about and feeding the giant tortoise. The island has a beautiful stretch of beach and crystal waters which made a great place for watching the sunset. The tour included boat transfers, entrance fee to view the tortoise and local guide. - Trip to Nungwi Village A great opportunity to experience the hustle and bustle of local life in the heart of tourist centre of the island. The village rests on the most beautiful stretch of beach with calm waters with no low or high tides perfect for enjoying the beautiful waters. This trip included return transfers from our hotel. - Trip to Mnemba Island This excursion was by far the highlight of our trip as there is a sure opportunity to swim up close with the many dolphins as well as exploring the vast array of aquatic life around the reefs. The tour included return transfers from our hotel, return boat transfers from the island, all snorkelling equipment and refreshments. Our tours were organised and facilitated by Othman and his colleague Abdul who did not disappoint to deliver excellent quality service. Both of them are such lovely people and really help to make your experience trouble free, seamless and overall enjoyable. All the tours were arranged swiftly with great communication and time management to ensure that we were never late so that we made the most of the time available to enjoy the tour and the full experience at hand.

I sent a few days diving with the dive team out of the Manta Resort, the team there were very friendly, very experienced and made time to ensure that all levels were catered for. I usually take my own equipment but due to the weight restrictions on the flight I hired a full set which all functioned correctly, if you considering diving Mohammed and Mandela we look after you no matter what your level.

in general, I really liked the rest in Zanzibar. many impressions. were a large family with three children. highly recommend to visit. The ocean played with different colors, although there were ebb and flow. during low tide, the mini zoo turned out straight and we walked with the children and watched sea animals.
