Symi Taxi Boat

About €9 each return from Gialos - we went to Asia Marina (brilliant taverna there) - taxi went at 10am and then again 11-12. There were two return options from our beach 15.15 & 17.15 so you can't exactly hop on and off to visit other beaches. Maybe this is the case in the height of the season. Taxi boat was on time and was the main carrier by the looks of it. There was another option at Gialos port but we didn't use it.

Marathounda Beach

Reviewed By BrianEnyc - New York City, United States

Marathounta beach is a beautiful pebble beach in a cove near the southern part of Symi, easy to reach via water taxi. The beach is known for the goats that roam freely nearby, and who are always curious about what is in your bags! The watr is crystal clear and calm, a good beach for swimming. Bring water shoes! Chairs and umbrellas are available at the beach, and a good taverna serves fresh and delicious Greek fare for a reasonable price.

Saint George Bay

Only accessible by boat, this is a wonderful bay to swim in and admire the beautiful turquoise blue water. Some day trips stop here and looking at some of the other boats in the bay you can imagine the high life of having your own boat to discover similar beautiful bays. Day trips stay about an hour, just enough time for a dip or to swim to the beach. Although the boat was full of tourists like me I loved this bay because it felt as if not everyone had discovered it. Deluded I know but a good feeling.

Nanou Beach

Reviewed By L7768EQdavidd - Devon, United Kingdom

Saturday 1st June at we took the midday water taxi, provided by Taxi Boats Symi, from Gialos to this secluded beach. The beach is situated on the eastern side of the Island in the beautiful Nanou Bay with its amazing mountainous coast. Our boat journey took around 30 minutes, the beach is only accessible by boat There is a small Taverna, Nanou Maria, where we had lunch under the old Cypress tress. Sunbeds and umbrellas are available to rent on the beach, we paid €5 for both sunbeds and the umbrella, reduced price because we ate in the Taverna. When we visited it was not very busy, it was so peaceful, relaxing and very quiet. The only noise we heard was the odd boat arriving or leaving, the gentle flapping get of our umbrella in the wind or the waves lapping up on the shore. The blue/green coloured sea was crystal clear. Towards the rear of the beach, up the concrete pavement, it the small little blue and white church. It is worth walking up to have a look, but please wear appropriate clothing, out of respect. The beaches stretches the length of the Bay, there is lots of space for visitors to spread out their beach mats and towels rather than using the sun beds. It is a pebbled stoney beach, so would recommend wearing rubber sole shoes when getting in to the sea. This beach was definitely the best of the beaches that we visited on the way here.

Taxi boat from main port area. The initial view of the beach takes your breath away , it’s very dramatic with towering cliffs . The water is crystal clear . It was fairly peaceful and then a large boat turned up with many day trippers from Rhodes. Spoilt it for me then as the atmosphere changed and it wasn’t peaceful but the boats soon go and it’s back to peaceful again. . I think this seems to happen lots , I guess as it’s so beautiful. The beach looses the sun in the afternoon also but this adds to its mystery , the colours become more vivid then.
