Cinco Ceibas Rainforest Reserve & Adventure Park is the newest adventure tour in Costa Rica; it covers 1,100 hectares of private reserve of which over 600 hectares protected primary forest along the Costa Rica Bird Route. Located in Pangola, Sarapiqui, Heredia it can be reached from San Jose, La Fortuna or Sarapiqui. It offers visitors four outstanding guided tours: The Boardwalk is a raised wooden trail through the primary forest. Visitors on this tour may be led by an expert naturalist guide or travel alone with a comprehensive self guide book. This is the only elevated boardwalk in Costa Rica! Handicap accessible, with a distance of 1.3 km through the primary forest it is secure and safe above the forest floor. Cinco Ceibas has some of the largest trees in the country, these magnificent trees may be 300 to 500 years old, one species the giant ceiba tree, are considered sacred by the indigenous cultures, Costa Rican almond trees, ceibas, and many other species shelter, green macaws, toucans, and hundreds of endangered species live here. We offer guided kayak tours down the tranquil Rio Cuarto River. We have either single or double kayaks. This tour is accessible for families, including children 7 years and older accompanied with an adult using a double kayak. We use the natural flow of the river, to admire the beautiful nature flora and fauna of Rio Cuarto. We have modern amenities including full showers and lockers for the convenience of the visitor. The third is a unique tour, the Ox Cart Tour! "Flaco and Gordo" two beautiful and sturdy oxen pull a wagon to transport visitors on an educational tour where they will learn about the typical oxen cart a national symbol of Costa Rica, declared by Unesco as with both Tradition Masterpiece of Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity. On this trip you may plant a tree in the nursery, admiring tropical flowers and receive a short history of the local area and flora. The fourth tour is the Guided Horse Back Ride through protected rainforest and secondary reforestation to admiring the flora and fauna of this region. We have a coral to practice so visitors get familiar with the horse, supported by an expert guide, we will leave the stables that offer beautiful views of the lake, forest and the mountains beyond.
