Attended the 20th vintage celebration dinner of the winery. What a fantastic experience. Murray and Pam such lovely people and producers of top class wine. Over indulged in the wine and food and woke up today without a headache. Russell Blaikie and his team prepared food for the flight of Riesling tastings and the spire and it was better than delicious. It’s hard to imagine how good the cheese toastie, the tomatoes on toast and the beetroot sausage roll was without being there. Russell Blaikie what a delight to meet and to talk about the fabulous paella he cooked for the spire. Oranje tractor is a delight to visit.

National Anzac Centre

Dignified and appropriate memorial to those who gave so much for the future of their country. Housed in a beautifully designed building in sympathy with its surroundings in Albany’s Mount Clarence Parklands this is a thoughtful and dynamic collection and tribute to the Anzacs who left these shores for WWI. Relating the stories of the Anzac troops from recruitment to convoy to the fields of Gallipoli and Flanders through narrative, interactive displays and a unique system of following a single soldier, this memorial takes you to what it was really like, from both sides of the conflict. A place to pause and reflect.

The Kalgan river is teaming with wildlife! Big ospreys birds nests as they dive for fish, lots of black bream, mulloway, black cockatoos and kangeroos! Luke Pens trail is great for hikers and there’s plenty of bends in the river for picnics or reading a book. Huge trees!!!! Nice clean water so swimming is recommended.
