10 Things to do Good for Couples in Accra That You Shouldn't Miss

April 13, 2022 Christa Meece

Stretched along the Atlantic Ocean, Ghana's most populous city boasts glittering beaches, monumental buildings, museums, libraries, galleries, traditional markets and lively nightlife. Accra's architecture reflects its colonial history, with 17th century castles standing alongside modern skyscrapers. A veritable melting pot of cultures, the city's central financial and shopping districts contrast sharply with the less affluent residential areas surrounding the urban core.

Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park

A small museum dedicated to the country's founding father.

Reviewed By MarshallB429 - Isle of Wight, United Kingdom

Very interesting, important history, with knowledgeable guides, this memorial park is more of a small museum than a park. Plan two hours. Learn and understand. It’s quite moving when one learns about the bravery and resourcefulness of pan-African leadership in the middle of last century. Onward and upward.... always forward.

Aburi Botanical Gardens

Snaking through the lush Akwapim hills, these gardens comprise great lawns planted with native and imported trees and plants.

Reviewed By Cdkempcfii - El Cerrito, United States

... in the craziness that is Accra. Perched up on a hilltop, about 20 miles outside the city center, Aburi Botanical Gardens is an interesting, lovely place to stroll around and appreciate the tremendous diversity of African flora. Our guide Harriet, was sweet as could be, spoke English very well, and was very knowledgeable about the plants she was showing us. The tour was about two hours total. Afterward, we stopped at the ice cream stand for a nice, cool treat!

Labadi Pleasure Beach

Reviewed By NaaDedeiB

This popular beach is always packed on weekends. Best if you go late afternoon to evening. There are several different food vendors, bars, street barbecue stands, etc competing for your attention so customer service is super. There’s always music playing. If you’re lucky, some of the locals will do dance and acrobat displays I in hopes that they get some money. But it isn’t compulsory to pay. Sometimes the water comes all the way to the sitting area in the beach sand. I advice you don’t go when popular artists do shows because there’s too many people and security doesn’t match. Aside that, it’s my go to for night beach.
