Floating 780 miles across the Bay of Bengal from Kolkata, this port city in the Andaman archipelago is the splash-down point for the Mahatma Gandhi National Marine Park. Diving, snorkeling and glass-bottom boat trips provide views of rare corals and marine life. On shore, family-friendly Gandhi Park offers amusement rides and a nature trail. Nearby Viper and Ross islands contain historical remnants of British rule, while Corbyn's Cove has remains of Japanese bunkers at its palm-lined beach.

Tuk Tuk Fun of Andaman

Reviewed By Unplanners

Went on an unplanned trip to Andamans in the last week of March, 2021. The Cellular Jail at Port Blair is one of the places I did not want to miss, because it signifies the immeasurable sacrifice made by India’s freedom fighters during the struggle for independence. Unfortunately, the online tickets for the Light and Sound Show at the Cellular Jail were sold out (of course, I was trying last minute). So, I started looking for other places to visit on TripAdvisor when I chanced upon Sadai Gopal’s phone number +91 – 95319 18600. He turned out to be very resourceful and took us around town to visit Chidiya Tapu, Munda Pahad Beach, Samudrika Marine Museum, Anthropological Museum, Chatham Sawmill, Science Museum, Ramakrishna Mission, Nature Park and Interpretation Centre, Veer Savarkar Park and the Cellular Jail. If you are looking for a unique experience and don’t mind sight-seeing in a Tuk Tuk, you can try him out.

Mount Harriet National Park

Reviewed By Aryan2007 - Mumbai, India

Mount Harriet National Park has the third highest peak in Andaman islands. The place has several species of local flora and fauna. The view of the surrounding islands from here is stunning. Its a lovely place for trekking as well. Only thing one has to be careful is that there are a lot of leeches especially after the rains. The park is well known for species like Andaman wild pigs which is an endangered species, saltwater crocodiles, turtles and robber crabs. The park is also a butterfly lovers paradise. On our way up to the Mount Harriet we stopped at a place from where we saw the North island bay and the light house. This spot is special because this is the place from where the picture was clicked which features on the back of India's Rupees Twenty currency note ! Would like to thank our driver for letting us know. The park is named in commemoration of Harriet Tytler, the second wife of Robert Christopher Tytler who was a British army officer, an administrator, naturalist and photographer and was appointed Superintendent of the Convict Settlement at Port Blair in the Andamans from April 1862 to February 1864. Harriet is remembered for her work in documenting the monuments of Delhi and for her notes at the time of the Revolt of 1857 in India. Must visit location.
