10 Things to do Good for a Rainy Day in Easton That You Shouldn't Miss

June 7, 2021 Kelli Reichel

Named one of the best small towns in America, Easton, Maryland is a haven of quiet streets and quirky festivals. First settled in the 17th century, Easton has remained an active community since Colonial times. The Third Haven Meeting House, built in 1682 by the local Quakers, is still used for Sunday meetings to this day. Visit during the annual Waterfowl Festival, when residents deck their historic homes with green boughs, and local artists pay tribute to the Canadian Geese flying overhead.

Good wine with good friends. Loved it! Quite the selection for such a small facility, and all of it was very, very good. They have small bottles for purchase, which I goobled up so I could try them all again at home. Very much worth the stop!

Plein Air a focus because of the summer Plein Air.event, but there are great other choices. I was drawn to Charlie Hunter's pieces, but love the abstracts there too.The owner is informative and will help with any questions you might have. if you make a day of it there is lunch and other things of interest including a really great small art museum (closed right now renovations) that any art lover would enjoy.

Reviewed By 35matthewf - Easton, United States

I have been a client of Troika Gallery for the past 15 years and it is the premier Art Gallery on the Eastern Shore - and believe me I have visited them all. Their slogan is the "Finest of Fine Art" and I could not agree more. The 30+ artists that they represent are fabulous and reflect the bucolic splendor of Maryland's Eastern Shore and the Chesapeake Bay. Most recently Carolyn Egley has joined the gallery and in addition to capturing bay scenes she masterfully paints Vermont country scenes that are simply breathtaking. Matt Zoll's still lifes are magical and really require study to truly enjoy. Bill Stork's historical Maritime paintings bring to life the ships that plied the Bay in days of lore, and Laura Era's portraits and pastels are so life like they can almost step off the canvas. If you're Easton you simply must visit Troika Gallery, and be sure to ask Peg and Laura questions as they are a wealth of knowledge and love the art and artists.
