Our family of four (kids ages 7 and 10) had the best day yet at Pura Adventura. We completed an all day package of horseback riding, ATV, and Zipline. All 3 activities were well guided (extra special attention to the kiddos), and so much fun. We all felt safe, comfortable- regardless of ability levels, and given the upmost attention. Fresh fruit was served after each activity, and the outdoor deck was the perfect resting spot between activities. Highly Recommended- all ages will have a blast!

Hacienda El Viejo Wetlands

Reviewed By SandeeGeislinger - Calgary, Canada

We had a great experience on our last day in Costa Rica at Hacienda el Viejo. Our nature guide Richard, Rum experience host Roberto and Cultural experience hosts, Tono and Victoria were attentive, knowledgeable, passionate and friendly. We booked our tour with them day prior and drove ourselves there from Playa Ocotal, about an hours drive. The road is a pretty typical Costa Rica road and actually in a pretty good shape in comparison to many others we’ve been on in the country. They are called a “Costa Rican” massage for a reason!! We saw so many birds, crocs, bats, birds, capuchins and howlers, and even an anteater and white tailed deer and thoroughly enjoyed tasting and infusing rums, forming, baking and eating tortillas, cheese, coffee and molasses sweets, not to mention learning about the hacienda and a bit of the history and importance of the location, the trees on the property and the road passing by. Oh and the lunch?? Delicious!! All in all a great day and we would recommend it!!

Macaw Recovery Network - Formerly The Ara Project

The Punta Islita Wild Macaw Reserve is a must-see for anyone who wants to experience the natural wonders of the area and see truly remarkable charismatic birds. The MRN is an NGO working to save the endangered Scarlet and Great green Macaws from the edge of extinction and when you visit, you will help support this cause. Tours run for an hour and aim to inform guests of the project's work, the plight of these birds in the wild and what we can all do to help them.

Reviewed By CasaRioVista-Samara

After hearing about this project for many years during our past trips to Samara, we finally made a point to visit. The educational discussion was fantastic, with Abby sharing great information about the birds, their habitat, and the Recovery Network's successful efforts to slowly breed and re-populate the birds into the wild in Costa Rica. Then seeing the birds in flight and feeding...what a great experience. Highly recommend for adults of all ages, as well as kiddos able to sit and listen for a quick 10-minute presentation (with pictures). As an added bonus, we got to see a pair in the wild during our stay that same week, in the beach almond trees along Playa Carrillo. Highly recommend the tour...great value!
