Spanning 4 generations and more than 100 years, this is probably the oldest bar in Melaka. The lovely aunty is also the coolest and friendliest bartenders I’ve ever met.

House of Museums Malacca

A museum featuring 50s to 70s old trades including old traditional chinese medicine shop, the red, blue and white pole barber shop, a go-go era tailor shop, village style sundry shop and an old tricycle delivery transportation of Rothmans, etc. It is very entertaining and also educational.

The museum is very charming. The enormous amounts of interesting antiques is complemented with the passion of mister Tih who manages the museum. Take some time to have a lengthy conversation with him, it's definitely worth it!

It was a sunny afternoon and we were looking some indoor activity to spend the time. My friend saw this place from Tripadvisor. Since it's the "1st Top Thing To Do List" in Malacca therefore we gave it a try. In the beggining, we received a warm welcome from Ms. Melanie. She gave us a briefing about the rules while interacting with the huskies. Hand sanitizer is provided. Surprisingly this place is unexpectedly amazing as we are able to interact with more than 10 Siberian Huskies in a clean environment. There are staffs always duty in the area to ensure the safety of the dogs and human.Free photography service is available. Not only that, there is an education gallery available for us to understand more about the breed. In the end of the session, there are free drinks available to claim at the cafe. We would definitely come back when we are back to Malacca. Thumbs up to Melanie for the friendly service ????????

Most of the wonderful little side streets and alleys lead back to the river or Jonker Street. It’s worth spending a day wandering the streets with camera and finding things hidden in plain sight.

The A' Famosa Fort and landmark St Paul's Church are two of the many attractions in this district.

A worth visiting place in Melaka ... it is suggested to climb the hill from the A'Famosa fort side so that you can see Famosa fort and then climb up the hill to see the ruins of St. Paul church. A small climb of around 50 stairs and nice views of Melaka await you, especially you can see the Taming Sari tower go up and come down from here. A nice place...must go ...

Great location to a spend a day for 1) Local food hunt; Chendol, Baba Nyonya cuisines, chicken rice balls, kuih muihs & etc 2) Antique hunt for Chinas, old coins, bronzes, vintage paraphernalia etc. Plenty to find here but prices are a bit steep. Be prepared to bargain. 3) Great Coffee brews; local coffees & imported origins. 4) Great place to chill; find a great spot by the river, order a drink and just chill 5) Photo opportunity; lots of insta-worthy locations 6) Night market experience 7) History; learn about the great Malay Sultanate of Malacca.

Malacca River

Reviewed By PappanMajumdar - Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

The Malacca river is the heart of Malacca. And nothing better to explore it through the river cruise, and then walking on the sidewalks and dining at the many riverside pubs and restaurants. And along with the Jonker Street which forms the tourist hub of Malacca, this area actually creates the pulse of Malacca. It is beautiful specially in the evening. We were 3 families of 9 people and each and every of us enjoyed the experience. We went there for both the nights of our stay. Some of them even went during the day and enjoyed the many museums in and around this area. THE MALACCA RIVER CRUISE For the river cruise, if you are driving, you can put on Malacca River Cruise Boarding Point on Google Maps. This will take you to the boarding area which has a huge car park, the ticket counter and then the boarding pier. Parking is easily available. The River Cruise tickets are RM 30 per adult for foreigners and RM 25 for locals. For children it is RM 25 and RM 20 respectively. The boarding process adheres to COVID SOPs very well. They have proper temperature checks, hand sanitizer and a social distanced waiting area. Each of the boats have sanitizers and the mandatory scanning through the tracing app MySejatara. The river cruise experience is wonderful. It last 45 minutes. The whole boat ride has been planned by the tourism department as it takes you through the river with well lit sidewalks, lovely lit up wall paintings, glimpses of beautiful traditional Malaysian houses. Also the river goes underneath various bridges which are nicely lit up. The whole experience is beautiful as the day becomes cool in the evening (with Malacca very hot during the day). You get to see many lovely restaurants, sidewalks and sitting areas. The boat offers commentary in Malay and English through speakers. Though the volume is a little low to understand fully. This is a must do activity in Malacca. THE LOVELY RESTAURANTS, PUBS There are many eating and drinking options next to the river. Each with different cuisine and décor overlooking the river. They are nicely lit up in the evening. And you can just spend time there next to the river and waving to the river cruise passengers. Few places also have live music. Its beautiful in the evening. JONKER STREET Well, it is very disappointing that due to COVID, this has become a dead zone. With the night market only operating on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, it is completely deserted in the evening and night on weekdays. Indeed very sad.
