My sister and I went to the winery for the tour and tasting in September 2020. Guys were harvesting at that time, so we were lucky to witness some production processes like grape crushing :D The nice lady guide took us through the the place explaining how the wine is made from A to Z. We ended in the tasting room and the wine was delish) Refreshing whites, mouthwatering reds, absolutely Devine desert wines... People, go there and try it yourself! ) I regret we didn’t take home a bottle of Helios ( Was looking for it at the airport with no luck Anyhow, the Alargo Syrah we tried at the winery made a safe trip to London and is waiting for a special occasion to make it even more special Thank you, Douloufakis Winery!

Thanks to Nicky Paterianaki for taking the time to conduct a wine tasting and tell us the history of this family owned winery now run by a generation of daughters. Beautiful setting for the tasting and great to learn about the indigenous varieties in this PDO region. Kudos for producing such fine organic wines and taking care of the environment.

My family and I had such a great experience with George. We booked him for a day to take us to a couple of wineries in Heraklion. He was very flexible with our requests, waited patiently as we stayed at each winery for quite a long time, and then took us to a nice quiet village for lunch. Lunch was at a very traditional village restaurant and it was one of the best meals I’ve had in a while. There is no way we would have had the same experience ourselves. We liked his service so much we booked George for a second day to take us from Heraklion to Chania. His price was so reasonable but he still stopped several times along the way for us to take pictures of the coastline and explained everything to us as well. We also stopped for lunch in the mountains and took his advice again on what to order. We had another great lunch. He even went above and beyond to return a camera to us that we had left in his van, getting it on a bus from Heraklion to Chania that same day. I would have booked George again if we stayed in Heraklion longer. He is obviously committed to making sure his clients have the best experience.

I really enjoyed my time visiting the Koules Venetian fortress - an iconic feature of the Heraklion port. With a nominal entry fee of €2, you can enjoy a good hour or so wandering around, with amazing views over the port as well. A must see if you're in Heraklion.
