Museo Alto Bierzo

El Museo Alto Bierzo, está dividido en tres secciones: Arqueología: en la cual se encuentran expuestas piezas que van desde el Paleolítico a la Edad Media. Etnografía: donde se visita la recreación de una antigua casa y una escuela.En esta área se encuentran representados también antiguos oficios y una colección de trajes tradicionales. Geología y Paleontología: la sala Plinii Secundi gestionada por la Asociación Aragonito Azul, muestra una variedad de 700 piezas, de una calidad excepcional dentro del mundo mineral y fósil entre las cuales se pueden observar fósiles, minerales del Bierzo, monotemáticos sobre el Bierzo y su entorno y gemas y piedras preciosas. Además hay un laboratorio taller en el que se realizan diversas actividades relacionadas con la geología y el mundo mineral. Se ofrecen visitas guiadas y talleres gratuitos previa reserva telefónica

The Sierra Pambley Foundation is a non-profit institution dedicated to educational activities in the province of León (Spain). It was created in 1887 by Francisco Fernández-Blanco y Sierra-Pambley, Gumersindo de Azcárate, Francisco Giner de los Ríos and Manuel Bartolomé Cossío.The Foundation’s activities have always been guided by the spirit of the Free Institution of Teaching (Institución Libre de Enseñanza). Built on the ancient Roman city wall, this museum offered excellent exhibits, demonstrating what Leon and its surrounding area were like during Roman times. It helped me understand the significance of the area for the Romans.
