American Space Museum & Space Walk of Fame

TOURS LIMITED TO 10, 12 & 2 DAILY BECAUSE OF COVID - RESERVATIONS RECOMMENDED! www.spacewalkoffame.com/book A museum dedicated to the Space Workers of the Canaveral Spaceport who built the rockets and launch pads that allowed the US to reach the Moon, and send probes to the outer planets. Many of the artifacts in the museum are simply on "long term loan" by those now retired space workers. We keep things exciting and personal with the opportunity to talk with people who worked there and to see what is new and coming in the American Space Program.

This museum in Titusville is an absolute "must see." It is much larger inside than it would appear from the outside, so give yourself a couple of hours to see it. The volunteer docents are retired NASA employees who can give you an amazing tour and answer every question with their first hand knowledge. The museum has the original launch consoles and artifacts from the Mercury, Gemini, Apollo and Shuttle programs, including a tire from a space shuttle. Many of the artifacts were being thrown out by NASA and were saved by the people now volunteering at this museum because they knew the significance of these items. There is also an interactive area for kids and a nice gift shop. It is open Monday-Saturday from 10:00 am - 5:00 pm and offers a senior and a military discount (with ID).

Pritchard House

If you are in the Titusville/NASA/Kennedy Space Center area and you appreciate local history, take some time to visit the Pritchard House in downtown Titusville. Built in 1891, the local historic society has restored it to its original stature. Call ahead for a reservation for a private group tour. Ask for docent Sandi as she is a local resident who is so knowledgeable, interesting, and charming. She will spend at least an hour with you, provides insights, and answer questions. You walk throughout the two story house on tour, and visit the gardens on your own.

Parker Brothers Concepts

Reviewed By DHinEC

One of our cruise stops was Port Canaveral so I used Trip Advisor to find something new to do there. Parker Brothers Concepts was #1. I was interested in spite of the weak, most recent reviews. When I called, Justine answered and explained why those reviews weren't so good. Remodeling and repairs from a hurricane may have made some experiences not so good. Made sense to me and I booked the guided(VIP) tour for my group. Our ship had a customs procedure that we were not expecting and messed up our schedule. I left a message and hoped that we hadn't missed the tour. We were happy that when we finally arrived, Justine was ready for us. The museum itself wasn't very large with maybe a dozen or so vehicles (we were coming from Smithsonian territory after all) but the variety of vehicles was wonderful--from the Tron motorcycle to the Ghostbusters' Ecto-1! The vehicles change depending on shows and events and the ones we saw were pretty impressive. I can see how just taking the self-guided tour ($10) would not be very interesting. For example, we wouldn't have known that the Parker Bros. made the Mars Rover on display at the nearby Kennedy Visitor Center. Taking the VIP tour led by Justine was so special. Her depth of knowledge, experience (yes, she's driven the vehicles) and background stories brought these vehicles to life. She was friendly and answered any question we asked happily. We left with a deeper appreciation of the creativity and work behind everything we saw. Even if you're not a car person, just the connection with the various movies is interesting. If you are a car person, you'll be happy here.

If you are interested in pirate and maritime history this is the place to go. The outside of the museum is deceptive. It looks small but it is packed with amazing, real artifacts and a guided tour. Interesting collection of historic weapons to include a cannon believed to have belonged to Blackbeard. The museum is set up like a pirate ship. They also have a lot of shipwreck items. The scavenger hunt was fun and after completing we received a "booty bag". Many hands on exhibits. In the attached pirate store they have pirate related clothing, games, books, toys and jewelry. Great prices. They also have a room called "Blackbeard's Closet of Curiosities" where you can purchase antiques and oddities from all over the world. Great place if you are looking for an unusual gift. They have now added a gallery with antique maritime paintings. We understand they will be adding an escape room at the end of summer.

Three generations of family members all found something they absolutely loved about the NASA Kennedy Space Center and you can feel the excitement in the air with the SPACEX launch pad and NASA's upcoming Mission to Mars. Grandma and Grandpa enjoyed coming close to the 50th anniversary of JFK's moonshot being realized, Gen X and Millennial parents and Aunts enjoyed Atlantis and the very wee ones enjoyed all of the interactive exhibits, slides and play park. A great, albeit long day with plenty for everyone. Recommend doing the bus tour first as the line gets very long.

U.S. Air Force Space & Missile Museum

Reviewed By 175wardd - Satellite Beach, United States

This museum is located on the Cape Canaveral Air force Station. The location has plenty of parking in parking lots outside the main buildings and in the area. There are two main buildings and a park outside the buildings. One of the buildings was the original firing control room that has much of the original equipment, a tribute to women in the space program and, now, a gift shop. The 2nd building has static displays for the local area, Cape Canaveral, a V-2 rocket and a space capsule. You can walk around outside the buildings in the large open field that has several of the pieces of equipment used to move and launch the rockets. Many of the rockets have been removed from the park, repairs and restored and are now residing in Hangar C but there is still one rocket on a stand to the south of the park. This is an older museum but a must see for anyone that is a space program fan.
