Zanzibar Locke

Central Dublin location. Tick. Riverside views. Tick. The option to head out to the bars, restaurants and clubs of Temple Bar, or cook dinner in your room. Tick. Made up of four Georgian townhouses, this ex-nightclub has been given a new lease of life, Locke style. Settle into your spacious apartment. Soak up the carefully curated art, practice your downward dog in the courtyard and order pre-dinner cocktails in the mezzanine bar. Or step outside, cross the Ha’penny bridge and dance the night away. All of Dublin is on your doorstep. Feel free.

Clean, comfortable modern stay

The apartment was perfect for our first stop in Dublin. Great location, convenient to City Center and close to bus and train stations for reaching tourist locations outside of the city. The small kitchen was perfect for making quick meals. The wifi was fast and connecting to ChromeCast in the TV was very easy. We felt at home right away. There was construction noise across the street from our room starting early in the morning, but not unreasonable for staying in a city. We were able to sleep through it after arriving at 0630. My only nitpick is that mattress was a bit firm for my liking. Staff was friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay again, highly recommend!

Very friendly and helpful staff. Pizza was delicious for dinner after a long day on the road. Would definitely recommend this facility

Great hotel, very new and clean!

This hotel is awesome. I arrived on an overnight flight from New York and my room was ready several hours before check-in. In fact, the key was already cut and waiting for me! They had coffee, wine, and tea available. No formal front desk either. Felt super modern. The room was incredibly clean which is so nice these days when that’s not always the case. Staff was friendly. The next morning, the breakfast was plentiful. The ambiance was so pleasant. My colleague and I were able to have a working breakfast without disruption. It’s a great hotel. I’d definitely recommend it.

A fantastic wedding venue

Reviewed By Brian M

We recently stayed at the Avalon House Hotel for a family wedding. What a fantastic place. The courtyard was perfect for a sunny drinks reception and the main function room had plenty of glitz and glamour. The staff were attentive, friendly and very welcoming. The food was fantastic, and the army of waiting staff did a fantastic job. We stayed in a beautiful room overlooking the courtyard. The hotel is decorated to a high standard, with excellent quality materials. Although a modern hotel it has the elegance and sophistication in keeping with the older parts of the main building and the history of the town itself. It is situated beside the fantastic Castlecomer Discovery Park, located just across a beautiful new pedestrian bridge, with lots of lovely walks. We were very impressed and will certainly be returning again as guests.

Water problems

Lots of hot water but couldn't get it to the shower on the 2nd floor. Used bath which then dumped a lot of brown scum out of the pipework into the bath. Bathroom radiator locked onto full blast heating on a mild day, such that the whole place was way too hot. Lots of messages received after booking but couldn't find the relevant new message behind all the old ones that are shown first in the new mail.

The Rooms at Bardons

Disappointing stay

Reviewed By Djaidje

Nicely renovated set of rooms. But several issues for our stay. First, had to pay in advance by phone before arrival. No presence on site, you get your keys from safety boxes in front of the door. Then, you should avoid the area on Monday and Tuesday nights. The rooms are attached to the Bardons bar and grill, which has excellent rating on TA by the way. Unfortunately, closed on Mondays and Tuesdays until further notice. And no advance information given (traveler notice in the room even mentioning 7 days opening). And there is not a single restaurant open in the town. We had to drive 30 minutes to find a decent place for dinner. Lastly, the Black Room, definitely a nice decorated room, with a very good king bed. Is located just above a cheap kebab takeaway. And the oily smell is very persistent in the room. Definitely not possible for a long stay. Luckily, we had a short night only. All in all, extremely disappointed by our stay, given the previous ratings on TA.

Having stayed in Ballina for years for work & still not found a hotel I would go back to regularly I decided to try the Dolphin hotel in Crossmolina village. From ringing & booking to the reception I received was lovely so warming & friendly. The room although slightly small for my liking was spotlessly clean & very modern with nice fresh towels & linen. Heating was self operated which was great as it was freezing outside!. No tea or coffee making facilities but available downstairs. Dinner was superb, chicken cedar salad & salmon with a large glass of vino & quality of food & service was brilliant. Great menu with specials & prices good too. Can’t wait to go back & highly recommend. Thank you Mary for looking after me & keep up the good work all. ?
