Chubut (Welsh: Talaith Chubut; Spanish: Provincia del Chubut IPA: [tʃuˈβut]) is a province in southern Argentina, situated between the 42nd parallel south (the border with Río Negro Province), the 46th parallel south (bordering Santa Cruz Province), the Andes range to the west, and the Atlantic ocean to the east. The province's name derives from the Tehuelche word chupat, meaning "transparent," their description of the Chubut River.

Nice location and pretty sights. Be prepared to pick up tickets from the agency ahead of time, then you’re just one of many (100?) people on the excursion. If possible, buy the boat ride tickets from the ferry terminal and save $$$.

It was a great choice to take our trips to Península Valdés and Punta Tombo with Sussanich Turismo. Organising things before we arrived with Natalia was all very easy, very clear on things like the daily itineraries and the price. We were given advice on booking our whale watching trip on the first day in case bad weather caused a delay. Very useful information that we had not previously considered. For both of our trips we were taken out by Mati who turned out to be the perfect guide for us. Looking after a group with ages ranging from 5 years old to 67 years old is not always easy, but Mati was great. Very knowledgeable on the all the wonderful flora and fauna we were seeing as well as the history of the region. I’d recommend for anyone to take a trip to Puerto Madryn and the surrounding areas of Chubut province, and I’d recommend for fellow travellers to use Sussanich Turismo to help them get the most out of their trip.

We enjoyed spending time watching the seals and sea lions. Our driver was good and our guide was a lovely young lady who spoke excellent English. It was interesting speaking to her and getting an insight into the way of life in Puerto Madryn. The tour itself whilst enjoyable was expensive for what it was.

We did this as a shore excursion and we booked it directly with El Pedral. The El Pedral team at the Puerto Madryn port were well signed and we found our way to our guide, Rodrigo who directed s to the small 'bus we went touring within. Rodrigo was well spoken and an excellent guide giving us great information on the excursion. We saw some wildlife on the journey to El Pedral property. Our first stop was to observe a small nmber of Elephant Seals laying below our cliff top observation point and then we proceeded to the area of the light house. Then came the reason for our journey - the walk, maybe 1500m or more, to the area where the penguins were located. First we saw moulting birds and then more and more and finally we reached the pebble beach where there were many penguins close to the line of surf. A few walked close to us while we stood upon the beach. After we returned to our bus we went to the El Pedral buildings where we had a lunch which included Argentinian style BBQed lamb and wine. This was the best excursion we have ever been on in our 6 cruises.

Punta Loma is a reserve where we can see hairy sea lions and it is located 17 kilometers at the south of Puerto Madryn. Apart from sea lions, several types of birds, like the Rockers Cormorants, who build their nests in the cliffs over the sea, live there.

Five hours in a bus, two and a half each direction, should have a payoff worth the time spent. This wasn't it for us. Bring sunscreen, a head covering and water for the very long, hot trek to the end of the boardwalk. There you'll see the penguins swimming in the distance. Binoculars will help. Otherwise you may see a few penguins up close as they make their way to the welcome shade of the boardwalk. These will be surrounded by tourists taking pictures. In the words of Roseanne Rosannadanna, "I thought I was gonna die!"
