10 Sightseeing Tours in Long Beach That You Shouldn't Miss

December 10, 2021 Myesha Cogley

For some, a tour of the Queen Mary, docked here since its retirement in 1967, evokes waves of nostalgia for the days of the huge ocean liner with its opulent rooms, 1930s deco décor and teakwood decks. Others, particularly the younger set, are entranced by the spine-tingling haunted ship stories on the nighttime ghost tour. But for everyone, a visit to this floating hotel and museum is a must on any trip to Long Beach. At one time a less-than-appealing place to visit, Long Beach has transformed itself into an upscale tourist resort, with many waterfront attractions, including a new, state-of-the-art aquarium with a fabulous shark exhibit, two excellent art museums, charming shops, public golf courses, the annual April Grand Prix international auto race and lots of recreational activities along its eight-mile stretch of beach. Take the kids to the waterfront entertainment complex with rides and live performances or to the farming demonstrations at Rancho Los Alamitos. Feeling romantic? Cruise the canals of Naples (that's right, Naples Island in Long Beach) in a genuine Venetian gondola. One thing is for sure: tensions and stresses dissolve in this laid-back, friendly city.

If what I paid for says 45 minutes it should be 45 minutes not 15 minutes or less. Called customer service and they said they’d call me back with my options and yet I’m still waiting for a return call. The pilots were great and even though the experience was very short lived it was memorable for my wife’s and I anniversary, however, I’m sure it would of been even more spectacular to actually get to experience the whole tour!

I've been on many tours in LA (I have elderly family members who cannot travel much by foot) and this was pretty average. We had some logistical issues and felt that the owners were not responsive or helpful.

Team were organised - the horses were docile, but looked like they needed a decent brush down. the views were great but the 2hr ride was so slow- would have been good to mix up the speed a bit to make it more interesting. Was itching to do a trot or canter even for 1/2 a minute! Guide was friendly and tipped as expected.

Highly recommended since we saved more than $200 each person!!! Planning ahead is the key. Highly dependent also to how cooperative your group members are (we’re a family of 3, with 12-yr old). Depending on what experiences you prefer, a 3day itinerary should be the minimum to experience most of LA. Put together those locations close to each other to save on travel time. Check each website to know more about each attraction (you dont want to go there only to find out that it’s closed for the day due to a special event). Because of our awesome experience, we’ll always consider the GO cards when we visit other states!

Fantastic tour excellent time and forever memories. Knowledge tour guides answering all questions regarding the golden age, Davis/Rains/Bogart/Cagney and my favorite Flynn. See great film locations (Casablanca) and studios posting classic films with dates filmed inside. One of my favorite parts of the tour was the end where you can tour the museum where props and wardrobe can be seen, piano from Casablanca, Flynn’s costume from Don Juan. The older gentleman leading the museum tour was actually working for Warner bros during the 30’s and told me Errol used to invite him into his dressing room during shooting to drink vodka. When asked why he loved vodka so much Errol said because no one can smell it! I love it!!!. I’m sure the older gentleman is no longer alive as my tour was in 2010 but I highly recommend the tour it’s fantastic for the classic movie buff.
