St. Michael

Reviewed By Steveage - Rexburg, United States

St. Michael is first documented in 1156. Throughout the 15th and 16th century modifications were made on this church. There are many beautiful works of art in here, please check out all the pictures and descriptions I post. We walked up the many stairs of the bell tower, it was gorgeous to look out over this beautiful town. Historic, glorious sounding bells that were made from 1299 - 1538 are easily visible as you climb the steps of the bell tower. The high altar with the "Passion and Resurrection of Jesus" was completed in 1460. Other altars are here form the 16th century. The main, big ,crucifix is dated to 1494. This is a must see church in a must see town!

Brunnen und Pranger

Reviewed By Steveage - Rexburg, United States

Gothic fish fountain built in 1509, depicting St. Michael slaying a dragon, a lynx and a lion. This a a fish holder for selling at the market that was located here. Not a destination reason, but a cool thing to see while you're here.
