Paris is a city and county seat of Lamar County, Texas, United States. As of the 2010 census, the population of the city was 25,171. It is situated in Northeast Texas at the western edge of the Piney Woods, and 98 miles (158 km) northeast of the Dallas–Fort Worth Metroplex. Physiographically, these regions are part of the West Gulf Coastal Plain.

The Red River Valley Veterans Memorial honors all veterans who have served in our military or on current active duty. The Memorial is a place for reflection, remembrance, gratitude and a place to educate present and future generations of the sacrifices made by members of their own family and their community to secure the freedoms we all enjoy. There are over 2500 granite pavers installed, 48 Family Benches, 18 Ornamental Tree Pavers, 2 Monuments and coming soon static displays of military equipment. We also have a visitor kiosk so visitors can search for a Veteran. We fly service flags 365 days a year and all LED lighting throughout the Memorial. There is also Major Donor bronze plaques that recognize all donors over $1,000. Near the entrance is a Blue Star Memorial Plaque to honor all Veterans.

Beautifully done in granite honoring veterans from all the wars, it was a nice visit and well worth the stop.

In 1868, Samuel Bell Maxey and his family moved into their fashionable new home on the south side of Paris, Texas. Built in the High Italianate style, the two-story frame structure was a proper home for the West Point-educated Mexican War veteran, Confederate general, and two-term U.S. senator. Maxey and his wife Matilda hosted many distinguished guests and the house soon became the town's social center. Today, the home showcases original family furnishings, clothing, and letters, which provide visual voices for three successive generations.

We were pleasantly surprised to find this lovely old home in Paris, Texas. It has been well maintained and full of antiques that are original to the house. It's well worth the visit if you are in Paris.

This is very old and contains some really interesting monuments, one is a life size buffalo and another has Jesus wearing cowboy boots!

Hello - just need to correct some info here - John Chisum was influential in the city of Paris, Texas; however, was born in Tennessee not Paris, Texas and died in Arkansas.
