Super historical close to the Mort Homme Hill. Staff are very dedicated and it shows that they work hard. Worth the stop for sure. A short, but incredibly unique and awesome experience.

The only thing left from this tiny village is its streetplan now converted to paths among littele signs pointing out the location of the buildings. The rest is completely obliterated, a very sobering experience.

Verdun Battlefield

Reviewed By JimSTL1021 - Saint Louis, United States

It is extremely worthwhile to tour the many sites located around Verdun to gain some first hand exposure to what took place here during WWI. To think of the millions of shells that were released here and the awful destruction that occurred will give you pause. This is a site that is well worth spending a day here to see the sights and learn as much as you can of the history here.

Fort Douaumont

As the keystone of Verdun’s defensive system, Fort Douaumont was the scene of fierce fighting and dramatic events during the Battle of Verdun, 1916. After falling into German hands in the early days of the Battle, it was constantly shelled by the French army that recaptured the fort on October 24th of the same year.

It's all been said before for sure, I just want to say that on a personal level, this place moved me deeply. As you travel through the tunnels and read the numbers that represent human lives lost, you go kind of numb. A century on, it left me chilled and a little afraid for the future. Very, very, very well worth a visit. Take your kids!

Butte de Vauquois

Reviewed By iWiebe - Utrecht, The Netherlands

One of the most striking places of the WW1 battleground to visit. The hill where the village of Vauquois used to be was turned into huge craters by mine warfare. Between 1915 and 1918 over 500 mines have been detonated by both sides without resulting in any significant advance.
