Franciscan Sisters of Perpetual Adoration Motherhouse

The nun who took us on a tour was very gracious. Not only did I receive a tour of the church, but was also shown a video. Then she also took us to see the archives which was phenomenal, and displayed the history of the church dating back many years. She talked about how there have been 2 people praying around the clock since the church opened, and how prayer requests can be submitted. Although this is not my denomination, I was impressed with the humility displayed and how much care the sisters here take to fulfill their mission. The stained glass is exceptional. This tour is best with no more than a small group.

Everyone on the float was so friendly. Caught a couple of big memorable fish - a catfish and a sturgeon - in addition to some smaller fish. We can’t wait to go back and fish there again.

Upper Hixon Forrest Park

I would rename this page into Hixon Forest. The forest is a sprawling entity, with multiple trails and many parking lots, and divided into subsections. Upper Hixon Forest is just one such subsection. This gem was gifted to the city of La Crosse by Ellen Hixon ages ago. Her monument and the story are commemorated at the Grandad Bluff - separate La Crosse Park bordering Hixon Forest.

The Shrine is open daily, there is never a charge for visiting, and the public is welcome. In it's Mission the Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe in La Crosse, Wisconsin, faithful to the message of the Blessed Virgin Mary through her appearances on the American continent in 1531, serves the spiritual needs of those who suffer poverty in body and soul.
