Yuyupas

There are not more than 7000 in the Tsou people group. This place was established about 10 years ago to promote their culture and also provide a means of livelihood. If you are English speaking, a guide will be helpful. We had a lovely time enjoying the local tea and chatting to the friendly staff. Like anything, the more you engage you more you learn. It would have been lovely if we could walk along the tea plantation. Just a beautiful location. If you visit there is an opportunity to drink and purchase the tea planted and also take in the cultural show. We arrived for the 11am show. After the cultural show, you have the option of dining in their local restaurant. My heart warms to a community who is trying to survive. Wishing them every success.

Alishan Shenmu Area

This reminds me the Redwood Forest and Muir wood in California, smaller scale but easier to walk around. It was an excellent experience to walk in this area and breathed the freshest air while your eyes watched all beautiful nature scenes. This is a must visit spot and must do activity at Alishan.

Zhushan Sunrise Observation Deck

Reviewed By meiyee - Petaling Jaya, Malaysia

Our tour guide booked Alishan Gor which is the hotel nearest to zhaoping station. That is the train we need to board at 6 am to go to the Zhushan station for the sunrise. We went to the station at 530 am and found out it has not even opened yet. Haha we are the first who bought the ticket but when the train came from Alishan station it was packed. When we reached the observatory the sky was already bright but the sun was st the other side of the mountain waiting to see us. We walked quite a bit to the ogasawara watch tower (aliyuan)upslope and down slope. But I can assure you it is truly worthwhile. When the sun finally rise it was just unexpectedly awesome. It is the purpose we came to Taiwan this time to see the sunrise and we can amazed by its view. Marvellous view but you can't see the sun directly for long or one may get blind I believe. It is painful. So everyone took selfies to capture the spectacular view. We stayed till around 7 something to catch the last train back to Zhaoping station. There are only 2 services offered in the early morning to return before the usual routine of train services starting at 9 am. It is really an eye opener for mr as I always see sunrise at sea. This is the first time I see from a mountain. Must go.

Sister Lake

These two high mountain lakes of different sizes are so clear that they look like two mirrors. You can enjoy the reflections in the water of the Taiwan red false cypress forest. Walking on the stone steps going downhill through the forest, Sister Ponds with a legendary sad love story will appear first in front of your eyes; then, the trail leads to The Four Sisters, which refers to four straight cypress trees growing side by side on the top of the remaining stump, and the spectacular attraction, the heart-shaped Love Forever, which was formed by the head and roots of two old cypress trees growing together.

The sister lake is a must visit spit at Alishan. The lake, the pavilion in the middle of lake escalate the beauty to another level, especially with the reflection in the lake. Different angle, different spot would make the views very different with the reflection. It’s a perfect spot to meditate to rest your soul to recharge your chi, the mental strength. Moreover, all the trees surroundings provide fendoline (Phytoncide) to refresh your body, your mind, what else you can ask, nowadays, in this modern era.
