My husband and I had the best experience in making pottery on our trip to Gatlinburg and Fowler's Clay Works.Mike was very patient with me and helped us to make the perfect additions to our collection. He really made it a fun class by allowing us to make mistakes and learn along the way. I highly recommend signing up for a class and stopping in to check out the beautiful, artistic pieces they create. I will definitely be back.

Hunter Museum of American Art

Focusing on American art from the Colonial period to the present day, the Hunter offers amazing architecture, a stunning permanent collection and exciting temporary exhibitions, and a museum store. The museum is housed in an early twentieth century mansion, a modern 1970s era building and a sleek, contemporary structure of steel and glass. The museum's collection includes paintings, works on paper, sculpture, photography, mixed media, video, furniture and contemporary studio glass covering a diverse range of styles and periods. A few of the well-known artists whose work is represented in the Hunter include Thomas Cole, Fitz Henry Lane, Winslow Homer, Robert S. Duncanson, Mary Cassatt, Childe Hassam, Robert Henri, John Marin, Thomas Hart Benton, Helen Frankenthaler, Louise Nevelson, Jack Beal, George Segal, Duane Hanson, Robert Rauschenberg, Sam Gilliam, and Andy Warhol. The Hunter Museum is a 501 (C) 3 Non-Profit charitable institution.

The Hunter Museum of American Art certainly follows the directive of its name: It is a modest sized but interesting museum devoted exclusively to American Art. It's not a complaint but my visit did not find any work of art by an artist who was not an American. Just so you know what you're getting when you visit. The Hunter is located on a hill at the edge of downtown Chattanooga in a gentrified section called Bluffview, which consists of former mansions as well as apartment houses built in the early twentieth century. It is a charming area which should especially appeal to those interested in architecture. The selection of art is quite good though not extensive. Parking is available on site. The museum has a charge for admission.

The collection consists of more than 20,000 Salt and Pepper Shakers from all over the world. A labor of love of collecting for more than 30 years. See the amazing variety of animals, vegetables, people and other colorful shapes, and the creativity of all the artists that created them. Great fun for all ages!

What a nice way to see a collection like none ever to be duplicated, 30,000 diffferent styled salt and pepper shakers! I was surprised how artistic they can be and wanted most of them for my home! Extremely resonable entry fee, probably the lowes in Gatlinburg and a fun time, especially if it is hot outside or rainy. The gift shop will satisfy your needs for a set or two, great gifts as well! Try it, worth an hour of your time. They allowed our 75 lb service dog and all of us had fun!

Friendly store owners, great atmosphere and lots of pretties for everyone and good eats. The shops on the outside in theirselves are done up soo pretty that they will take your eye in and draw you into the store. There is seating everywhere in the Village if you just want to set and have a beverage of your choice and talk. Just a beautiful place if it is your 1st visit there or your 10th visit there, never tire of The Village

Swirlz is great! They have a variety of designs to choose from, and everybody always seems to be having a great time. YOU DO NOT NEED TO HAVE ANY SKILL TO HAVE A BLAST OR LEAVE WITH A MASTERPIECE!! Go do it, and enjoy yourself! I’ve gone on a date night, with girlfriends, and even a teenager...always a blast. The instructors seem to actually be enjoying themselves. I believe several of them have been high school art teachers, so they’re great at getting you to do your best work. I love Swirlz. And I love being in a room where people are relaxed, and sincerely just enjoying themselves, away from their kids, and using their artistic brains!!
