This most unique hardware store is over 150 years old, and it has absolutely EVERYTHING! It was quite an adventure exploring the many nooks and crannies. The selections were endless, practical and unusual as well! We loved it!

It's a fun little department store for your Waterfront lifestyle. Shoes, Clothing, Wine Jewelry, Cards, Local T-Shirts and more in the city of bears, Downtown New Bern. Nautical Wheelers is the first stop leaving the DoubleTree and Convention Center, with maps and friendly local help. The sister store is 30 minutes away in the waterfront village of Oriental, NC. Open seven days a week at 10am. Spend a day or two in downtown New Bern, be sure to walk along the riverfront, watch the draw bridge open, stop in the Pepsi store (Pepsi was invented in New Bern), just up from Nautical Wheelers on Craven Street is Mitchells Hardware (your great great grandparents could have shopped there, it's that old) . Great restaurants in downtown and now lot's of outside dining.

Poor Charlie's is in a really old building that may have been an old waterfront warehouse. Regardless, it is a beautiful old building. It is downtown New Bern close to the waterfront and across the street is a Farmers Market. It is a great area to walk due to the fact that there also some restaurants close by which make the area very nice for all. Upon entering I was pleased that you walk up a ramp. Mostly because it has been raining and these old building steps can be a bit slippery when wet. Poor Charlie's has a very good selection of stuff as far as antiques go. We saw furniture, glassware, home décor scatted about in the various booths. Pretty much a little bit of everything. The staff was very friendly and helpful and we enjoyed our stroll around the shop. The prices, we thought, were better than most antique markets in tourist locations. If you shop around there are deals to be made. Worth a stop to see some really nice antiques if you are in New Bern. Highly recommend.

We stopped by the store after spending a day touring. My sister and I both made purchases. They had a great supply of collectible glass ware. I would go again when I go back.
