Fort Bragg, North Carolina is a military installation of the United States Army and is the largest military installation in the world (by population) with more than 50,000 active duty personnel. The installation is located within Cumberland, Hoke, Harnett, and Moore counties. The installation borders the towns of Fayetteville, Spring Lake, and Southern Pines. It was also a census-designated place in the 2000 census, during which a residential population of 29,183 was identified. It is named for Confederate General Braxton Bragg. It covers over 251 square miles (650 km). It is the home of the Army's XVIII Airborne Corps and is the headquarters of the United States Army Special Operations Command, which oversees the U.S. Army 1st Special Forces Command (Airborne) (Provisional) and 75th Ranger Regiment. It is also home to the U.S. Army Forces Command, U.S. Army Reserve Command, and Womack Army Medical Center. Fort Bragg maintains two airfields: Pope Field, where the United States Air Force stations global airlift and special operations assets as well as the Air Force Combat Control School, and Simmons Army Airfield, where Army aviation units support the needs of airborne and special operations forces on post.

Sew ‘n Sew Etc, is a 60-year-old fabric and notions shop. We’re a large, colorful, FRIENDLY store on the coast, in the north end of town, just a few blocks from the ocean. We stock a huge assortment of over 3,500 rolls of fabric, plus complete quilting and sewing supplies and notions, as well as classes for beginners and experienced sewers, alike. Stop by and say, “Hi!” to Paula, Julie Rae and Pam. Store Hours: 10-5 Tuesday - Friday, 10-3 Saturday Classes available most Saturdays.

I wandered into the Depot and came upon this gorgeous little store with my mineral-obsessed daughter. We met Rob Sula, who is as friendly and he is knowledgeable about minerals and fossils. In fact, it took me 2 seconds to figure out that he is as smart as a professor, and indeed he is and is a paleontologist that has discovered many dinosaur fossils! We bought some quartz and amber, but spent quite a bit of time learning from Rob and seeing a fraction of what was displayed in the store. Even had an opportunity to pick up a piece of meteorite that wasn’t that large, but weighed a lot more than expected. This place was more like a mini-museum than just a store!

A great little place to go on a beautiful day. Right on the water with a handful of outside tables and you can hear the seals barking in the background. If you like fish and chips then look no further, this place is awesome. If you really want to try something great have the fried prawns and chips. Went 2 times in 3 days. Wow was it good! No alcohol served.
