10 Private Tours in Cluj-Napoca That You Shouldn't Miss

February 24, 2022 Emerita Lamoureux

Cluj-Napoca is the unofficial capital of Transylvania, and though you (probably) won’t find vampires here, you can explore castles, fortresses, botanical gardens, museums and parks. Cluj-Napoca has a vibrant arts scene that embraces both the traditional and the progressive. There are plenty of opportunities to enjoy classical concerts, theatrical performances, puppet shows and music of every genre, from jazz to modern pop to electronica.

Due to the current covid situation, I had a private tour that day, which was awesome. Mathias was a great guide, has a lot of general Romanian knowledge along with historical. This made for great conversation on the way to and from the castles. I highly recommend the tour and would gladly do it again with friends and family in the future.

Autumn is a great time to visit Transylvania. One of the highlights for me was the mountain roads and seeing the bright autumn colours in the forests. The scenery is spectacular! Bogdan is an excellent tour guide who entertained me with his stories and knowledge of the castles. He is able to explain the history of the region and to answer any questions. Due to COVID, the castles were not crowded and the lines were short. The cold misty weather when I visited Bran Castle added to the spooky atmosphere.

We made the day trip in 2019. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable, and the car was comfortable and clean. We dealt with Ilona, and she was very helpful in answering all our questions. 3 week Holiday in small town near Cluj - called Campia Turzi. Then toured within 100 mile radius. Fantastic - beautiful scenery, mountains, rivers, lakes - never saw a caravan ! Walking and horse riding is superb. The food was first class and 100% organic as is the whole Country. It was hot - very hot close to 40 deg. The attractions are too many to list here right now but we went clay shooting, mountain walking, river walking wow its a rugged Country. The people were very friendly and it was very safe to walk around even at night. So many police deters the bad folk. Went to a mountain church where the head priest has his own "Tweeka" (apple brandy) brewery. More than 80% proof rocket fuel. He gave us a full lunch and a couple bottle this brew - no charge. The bars and cafe's are joy to sit outside and have a very cheap beer or three. Fantastic cake shops and you must try the cake called "Papanasi" - if this is not the best cake you have ever seen or eaten. Made with blackberries and cottage cheese - just sublime. I spent another 10 days in a hotel with my 35 year old son - the Sun Garden near Turda in Cluj. We had breakfast, lunch and evening meals then guests for drinks every night. Cam to settle the bill on leaving - just COULD NOT BELIEVE It - came to less than £1000 when I was expecting £3000 ! Finally for now this is a land of truly Beautiful people and super super fit. Is there any fat people in Romania? I do not think so. The women have to be seen to be believed.

Turda Salt Mine it’s probably one of the most important and interesting places to see in Transylvania. According to the top of the most spectacular sights to see out there made by the site businessinsider.com, Turda Salt Mine is situated on the 22nd place. Salina Turda, located in Turda, Romania, is home to an underground theme park that's nestled inside one of the oldest salt mines in the world.  Turda Gorge. The canyon is nearly 3 km long, with 300 m high walls sculpted in weathered limestone. Bring the camera because you will be impressed with the work that a river did inside a mountain in hundreds of millions of years. At first sight, you will see two rocky massifs, which were once one and which were separated by erosion of Jurassic limestone rock by the river

Inclusions: Bottled water, 1 LANGOS, 1 Activity inside the Salt Mine

Exclusions: Traditional Dinner in Rimetea Village
