Capable Lifeguards housed in towers save locals & tourists alike. Weak swimmers bobbing & boogie boarding visit the beach in droves.

We only had a brief stay in LA but based in nearby Marina del Rey so had a wonderful walk from there to Venice Beach and Santa Monica and of course we had to see the pier and the Route 66 sign which was extremely popular. People were literally queuing up to wait to take a photo.

Santa Monica Pier

This bustling wooden wharf is the place to be, with its eateries, shops, high-tech arcade, roller coaster, giant Ferris wheel and other rides, famous 1922 indoor merry-go-round and fantastic views of the bay and the mountains.

lovely place, my fav in LA. close to Expo Line Metro. cool musicians, tasty restaurants, beautiful views of the pacific ocean, fun attractions at Pacific Park right next to the pier, souvenir shops as well. would spent hours and hours there !! would recommend you to go to 3rd st promenade afterwards :)

Date of Visit: Sunday, Dec 15th, 2019 When you are on Santa Monica Pier, be sure to visit the LOOFF Hippodrome Carousel. I love classic and historic merry-go-rounds, and the LOOFF ones are amazing. We visit these carousels as often as possible and there is a Fabulous one on Santa Monica Pier. IT is beautiful, it has amazing characters/animals, and awe inspiring craftsmanship. Take some time and appreciat this beautiful piece of history and artisty and ride the Carousel many times - chosing different animals each time.
