Since 2001 the Clunisian Priory of La Charite-sur-Loire has been one of the biggest restoration sites in Burgundy. In 2003, the Benedictine gardens and St Laurent Church were the first monuments to be restored, and the chapter house and one of the cloister galleries were inaugurated in January 2008. The priory is gradually coming out of the shadows and today it offers a fascinating look at the town and its history. In the high season the priory hosts many shows and concerts, bringing it back to life.
