Chengannur Mahadeva Temple can be easily reached from MC road. If you are travelling from tiruvalla side watch out the Rail underpass and take the road on the left immediately after the under pass and it will lead you to the temple. heard about the Unique custom - it is said that when the Bhagavathy gets her monthly periods she is shifted to a separate room, So it is believed if any ladies are facing menstrual period related problesm praying here will cure it. In this temple the Nandi (Lord Shiva's aide) is placed in an ideal location on a raised round platform as you enter the temple so it easy for people to convey their wishes to Lord Shiva by speaking into Nandi's ear.

We make it a point to visit this temple for Darshan whenever we visit Kerala. The temple is very famous among devotees of Godess Durga and is very sacred. It was a Friday and a special day with additional rituals and therefore crowded. The place is kept clean except for toilets which needs attention. Parking is a problems during rush hours or on special days.

Worth the climb up a fairly steep stairway to see Alappuzha vista. Small museum on site where you can look at some old lighthouse lenses.
