10 Playgrounds in Queens That You Shouldn't Miss

April 6, 2022 Kaleigh Reichenbach

Queens is the most ethnically diverse area of its size on Earth, which means there's a little something for everyone. Chow down on Indian food, sit in on a traditional Irish pub music session, and dance the night away at a Puerto Rican nightclub, all of it located within a few subway stops. Queens is also the home of the Mets and the US Tennis Open, and the former home of the New York World's Fair, now Flushing Meadow-Corona Park, and Paramount Pictures, now the Museum of the Moving Image.

Alley Pond Park

Alley Pond Park - AP - is a large park with lots of trails. It is usually clean and a good place to take photographs. Lots of benches and room there. Always felt safe. Lots of families and kids as well as plenty of places to avoid them. We walk dogs there - picking up as we go - and it seems most people pick up too. BBQ spots, fields, Playgrounds... it is more like several parks connected. Great for bike riding.

Travers Park

There is a nice playground here that has good quality climbing equipment - my nephew hangs out here. There are handball courts, some basketball hoops and an open blacktop. I think the strongest things going for the park are the playground and the weekly farmer's market.
