10 Outdoor Activities in Luang Prabang That You Shouldn't Miss

February 11, 2022 Diedre Savory

This UNESCO World Heritage Site is the former capital of Laos, and you'll see everything from golden-roofed temples to vestiges of colonial French architecture here. Buddhist monasteries abound in Luang Prabang, and early every morning, monks process through the streets collecting alms (their food for the day). If you want to watch or participate, though, ask your hotel for a brief etiquette lesson first—you have to distribute the food in a specific manner.

Khopfa Mekong Cruise

Khopfa is a new boat with wide open terraces and lounge spaces. With no doubt the most comfortable and cosy boat of Luang Prabang, enjoy a Sunset Cruise or a sail to Kuang Si Waterfalls. The boat has a bar and food service onboard, and is perfect for group, families or romantic outing. The boat parks at The Belle Rive Boutique Hotel's peer on the Mekong (the peer is on the peninsula of Luang Prabang's old town, down the Vat Sene temple). The Sunset Cruise starts at 4.45pm so come at 4.20pm to pick the best seats ;) Spoiler : we head to an out-of-town sunset point with no other boat around, surrounded by montains and lush vegetation.. a real piece of magical experience.. and we offer you a welcome drink sided with a plate of marinated olives, yummy ! Our Kuang Si Cruise starts at 8.30am and we come back to Luang Prabang at 3.30pm, you can check the departure dates on our website. Tip: book at least one day in advance. Hope to see you around.
