10 Outdoor Activities in Kennebunkport That You Shouldn't Miss

August 24, 2021 Esmeralda Fenner

It took George H.W. Bush to make Kennebunkport known to most of the country, but New Englanders have enjoyed this quiet coastal Maine town for years. In hot weather, beaches are a major draw, but Kennebunkport's many small boutiques, art galleries and restaurants make a visit fun at any time of year. Inveterate shoppers may want to combine a visit to Kennebunkport with a trip to nearby Kittery, where dozens of outlets and factory stores offer plenty of bargains.

Rugosa Lobster Tours

This is a demonstration of lobster fishing and information about lobster biology, Maine lobster fisheries, commercial aspects of the fishery and last but not least, some local history. Fun for the whole family. The Rugosa is a real wooden lobster boat out on the Gulf of Maine and in terms of information shared by the tour guide, children must be at least 6 years. Very young children can be a distraction to the rest of the guests aboard the boat, enjoying the presentation. THIS YEAR BECAUSE OF THE COVID-19 CRISIS, WE WILL BE TAKING ONLY 10 PEOPLE PER TRIP FOR SOCIAL DISTANCING AND WILL USE ALL PRECAUTIONS TO KEEP EVERYONE SAFE.

My favorite beach here. I love to walk my dog and have him play with other dogs on the beach. And it's a great way to meet other people who are both visiting or live here.

Goose Rocks Beach

Quiet and family-oriented Maine beach.

Goose Rocks Beach is undoubtedly one of the nicest beaches in the Northeast. It is truly a family beach with soft sand and a protected shore that allows small children to play in the water without massive waves. The water temperature is not as low as you might think - it's very enjoyable and refreshing, even for grandparents! Sand Dollar Real Estate is the place to go to find convenient rental properties. They are amazingly helpful and have a large stock of vacation properties (of every kind and description). Check out their webisite.

Cape Arundel Golf Club

Eighteen-hole Scottish-links layout is a challenge due to water on 13 holes, small greens and the presence of sand bunkers at every hole.

Reviewed By randmtraveller - Boston, United States

It was lovely that we were able to play with relatively short notice. My husband and I were able to have a weekend getaway without children and he loves golfing but never gets the chance. I try to keep up! We were paired with a lovely couple who are members of the club and who put up with my novice skills. It is a gorgeous course with some tricky greens and rough putts. The people at the clubhouse could not have been nicer. BYOB for the end of your round!
