10 Other Outdoor Activities in Jersey Shore That You Shouldn't Miss

December 11, 2021 Ying Subia

The Atlantic coast of New Jersey, with its beaches and boardwalks, stretches from Sandy Hook in the north to Cape May in the south. Fresh ocean breezes fan 127 miles of sandy beaches. Drive between cities or catch a NJ Transit bus or Atlantic City jitney bus. Atlantic City packs people in to nightlife venues and casinos. Wildwood's boardwalk is well-trod. Asbury Park is once again popular, particularly with gays and lesbians. Cape May's restaurants and Victorian inns lure tourists to the historic town.

This was the best part of our vacation. The crew did an amazing job setting the stage and my son Josh loved it. From the tattoo to meeting real pirates he is still taking about it. He loved defeating pirate Pete and finding real treasure!! Our son is four and had the time of his life.

Mount Mitchill Scenic Overlook

9/11 Memorial & scenic overlook of Sandy Hook, Raritan Bay & 4 counties of NYC

Stopped here expecting to spend just a few minutes enjoying the view of Sandy Hook. And ended up spending more time. Very peaceful park with flowers and a few park benches. There are also signs describing the area, pointing out landmarks in the distance. On a clear day you can see NYC in the distance. What really moved me is the 9//1 monument with the names of those from Monmouth Cnty who lost their lives on 9/11. This alone is worth the visit.

Booked a whale/dolphin watching tour on the Sea Eagle Belmar NJ. At first I thought the boat was small, and would feel every wave, not the case. We felt very comfortable on the boat. What a day!! Whales! right beside the boat. Dolphins The captain and his first mate were awesome! They had such enthusiasm, when they saw the whales. It was amazing to see that although they are out there everyday seeing the whales, they still get as excited as we did ! I recommend this boat very highly!

I used to go on this boat almost every weekend through flounder season. I was 13 at the time, and was known for winning the pool and splitting it with my friend, we had a deal that is either of us won the pool, we would split the profit. We only stopped going because we got kayaks, and have been doing very well fishing off of them. For a good 3 years this was basically my 2nd home, as I knew the captain, and the mate, and they are probably the most friendly people I know. I brought my friend, who had no clue what he was doing, and he had a blast, he caught at least 10 flounder in the 17 inch range, but I ended up with the pool winner, and got a fat stack of cash to take home at the end of the day, which paid off that trip and future trips to come. I recommend making this your first priority if you go to somers point or are staying in Ocean City New Jersey. Also if tony isn't there sit in the seat to the front left of the boat, which says "Tony's seat" this is a lucky spot where many keepers have been caught from. This is an amazing place to go if you are just learning how to fish, because they do a great job explaining what you have to do, and give you great tips at the same time. Even if you are an experienced angler, they know where the best spots are, and can help you get some meat for the table. Good luck, and tight lines.
