July 20, 2021 Weston Hennigan

New York State has it all – booming metropolises, majestic waterfalls, mountains, wine country, chicken wings. Yes, NYC is a magnet for tourists, but an exploration of the rest of the state can be equally thrilling. The Finger Lakes Wine Region is a vision of serene waters, quaint B&Bs, and pretty vineyards. Movie buffs will love Rochester, home of the George Eastman House and one of the world’s most comprehensive film archives. On your way to Niagara Falls, stop in Buffalo to fuel up on spicy wings.

Excellent tour for those looking to explore the Hamptons and LI wineries. Ronald was informative, patient, more than accommodating and most important knowledgeable. Ron was also very sensitive to our concerns regarding Covid and it was obvious that his precautions were above standard. Highly recommend this tour.

Haunted Manhattan offers the most accurate—and FUN—ghost tours in the city! On our Greenwich Village tour, a secret underworld of ghosts and ghouls reveals itself as you’re guided through the streets by "noted professor of anthropology & the supernatural," The Professor. The Professor will guide you to 13 haunted locations, from Washington Square Park, a former potter's field and now the beating heart of the Village that seems to host multiple famous spirits (including a ghost dog!), to the former home of Mark Twain that may also hold malevolent spirits, telling you tales of haunted dorm buildings, churches, fire houses, theaters, and more along the way... A historical, hilarious, and completely hair-raising experience, Haunted Manhattan will show you the greatest city there is, like you’ve never seen it before.

The West Village has been "Little Bohemia" for over 100 years, and the hang-out of artists and writers for even longer. Our Poet, Vinny, knows all the best stories of history, hauntings, and extraordinary encounters with the beyond… They'll take you to 13 haunted locations, sharing tales from a pesky poltergeist who likes to play with fire, to a chilling encounter with Edgar Allan Poe, to a dead speakeasy owner who’s not ready to let go of her enterprise. while the tour is advertised as "haunted" and we do get to hear scary stories about the various ghosts that perhaps inhabit buildings around Washington Square Park, the best part of the tour for me was the actual history that inspires the ghost stories. some of this history is more than 300 years old !!! our "professorial" guide (himself perhaps a rather vivid spectral being) is well-informed, congenial, and makes a personal connection with each person individually in the tour. the suggestions for a good pub afterwards were appreciated and I've been thinking about what I learned over the week that has transpired since this fun event (follow-up, in response to the questions below, there was no gear or equipment to sanitize unless people are NOT sanitizing their own disposable masks)

The best that New York has to offer - amazing history, dizzying landmarks and sounds of jazz! Join me for a walk along Fifth Ave - the name associated with wealth, glitz, and glamor. Fifth Ave is one of the best-known streets in the world, especially the stretch known as Millionaire Row. Once upon a time, it was lined with the finest homes of New York's wealthiest people - a place of ambition, intrigue, scandal, and the most spectacular balls ever given. This tour is not just about the landmarks, it's about the history of New York during the Gilded Age and about the people like the Vanderbilts, the Astors, the Rockefellers, who shaped it into the metropolis. It's about millionaires and architects, visionaries and beautiful models, artists and writers whose names are forever connected to the 5th Avenue. The tour will end at a place where the sounds of jazz rule the night ( food and drinks are available and highly advisable!)

Inclusions: See NYC highlights with a licensed NYC Guide, Enjoy the intimate atmosphere of a small group, Discover the city's fascinating history and culture, Get insider suggestions for live jazz, speakeasies, and hidden spots, Get a free NYC map for your further city exploration

Let me tell you – this was an unforgettable evening. I love New York City and love walking the streets of the city thinking about this fantastic place - so unique in the world. Experience with Iren brought many events and places into a new and a very interesting angle. Great idea to start with a drink in a club-like whiskey bar built on prohibition era views and experiences – with the list of cocktails from the 20th of 20th century to the modern days and walls covered with a full collection of whiskey bottles. Nice music, and Iren - a wonderful story teller showing us how America was built and how Manhattan became what it is, and what was it that made the early settlers drink, and what was it that brought the prohibition into law. And, of course, – how it affected our great city. After the drink we walked the same streets I often walked myself towards Madison Square Park and further to Gramercy Park seeing everything in a different light and understanding events that took place in 19th and 20th century that shaped our city. Incredible night views – Flatiron; MetLife Tower, New York Life – and stories, stories, and stories about them, making the city so alive. Gramercy Park – so mysterious and so full of the spirit of the city, with historical characters brought to life by Iren by the Mayor Lamps lights. Last stop – oldest (at least fighting for this title) bar in New York City – Pete’s tavern - where time stood still and where everything is at it was in 1864. And more stories about the bar crowd such a long time ago…

Did the Statue of Liberty tour on Monday 5/10 and it was a deeeeeelight! James was amazing and is full of pertinent facts and information! As soon as our group arrived James told us what to expect on the tour and let us know that he was available and encouraging of being our personal photographer! Ask for James, you won’t be disappointed- he is the keeper all of things Liberty Enlightening the World (I hope I’m remembering that fact right!) buuuuuuut, the company could put more signage around because there is none until the actual entrance to the building, but that’s not James’ fault- we found his flag!
