Savandurga

Reviewed By himanshuayo - Phuket, Thailand

I have been here 3 times, reached the top twice. If you're going for the first time, do read this fully. One of the better treks on the outskirts of bangalore. The trek is roughly 3.9 kms uphill. (as per my smartwatch) Tips: *This is a steep beginner-Intermediate trek which may take a rough 1.5-2.5 hours uphill and 40-60 mins downhill based on your fitness level. * Start early in the morning around 4 am if you wanna experience the best view. Really good sports/trekking shoes are a *MUST . Slippers/sandals are going to make it really hard avoid em. Barefoot is also okay as long as you're confident and not doing it during the day time(the rock starts to get really hot aft 12pm) *avoid during the rainy season. Few portions of the trek do get slippery n get fatal *Carry sunscreen, energy bars, 2 litres of water, a powerbank, (don't keep hydrating yourself unless you really need to, it'll only slow you down) though you'll find vendors selling butter milk, water, juice etc atop. Keep your backpack light. *Garbage bags are a must. Do not litter around this beautiful place. Carry your stuff all the way downhill *Have breakfast at the bottom before you start. The Locals provide you really good home made food. Do not start on an empty tummy. *There are white arrows painted on the rock to direct you, follow em all the way. Beautiful trek, Sundays are usually crowded try going on a saturday. Haffun, Safe trekking and DO NOT LITTER.

SRS Hills

Ramanagara is around at a distance of 49 kms from Bangalore. We started from kengeri ksrtc bus station at around 6:30 am in a ksrtc bus which headed to mysuru. We got down at ramanagara ksrtc bus station at around 8:30 am. We had a quick breakfast at a near by hotel at a reasonable price. We took a local auto from the bus station to the srs hills which is at around 14 kms from the ramanagar ksrtc bus station. We reached the hills in 20 minutes. We started our trek at around 9:30 am and reached the peak by 12:00 pm and took the blessings of the lord sri revanasiddeshwara swami. We got down the hills by 1:30 pm. And again we took a ksrtc bus from srs to the ramanagara ksrtc bus station. We Had our lunch at a near by hotel. We started back to the Bangalore by 3:00 pm. There are very frequent ksrtc bus available both the ways. Recommendings : -Do not trek during rainy / on high sunny days. -Do not start the trek in empty stomach. -have enough water bottles and other refreshments in the bag packs. -Be careful about the bag packs as there are monkeys which might snatch the things away from you -Be more careful while visiting with toddlers and elderly people. As there are very small steps that are steep and slippery which might be comparatively more challenging to them. *overall it was a tremendous trek which gave an extremely refreshing atmosphere *definitely, one feels to re-trek *as the trek can be completed soon within half a day, one gets enough time to visit a near by well known place called "janapada loka" (closed on Tuesdays). -A MUST TREKKING HILL❤

Lovely place for trekking and camping with beautiful views. It's a nice weekend getaway and is about 60+ kms from Bangalore. We went through the Bangalore-Mysore road and took a right turn before the Ramanagara bus stand (18 kms from there). This temple is believed to have existed few hundred years ago is located on a monolith rock. You have to take a right turn after the Jalamangala lake and a dirt road is being built till the place where the steps begin. A parking lot is also being built and it should be ready by end of Jan'21. It is a mud road now and please be careful if it has rained. There are 560 steps to the top of the hill, where this temple is located. The views from the top was wonderful, with cool breeze blowing - mornings and evenings are preferred visiting times. We were lucky to see few Egyptian Vultures there. Please carry your own food and water as there aren't any shops nearby.

Ramadevara Betta Hill

Reviewed By CBSKUMAR - Bengaluru, India

This is a delightful, fulfilling and rewarding trek ! The famous bollywood movie “Sholay” was shot around this area, long back. Start & end early. Plenty of scenery & greenery with natural light, available for photography. Here are some highlights about this hike :-  Nice breakfast options enroute along the highway.  Small entrance fee at the start of the hike.  Ample parking room & quite safe for Cars & Bikes.  Hiking shoes with good traction needed to negotiate rocks.  Carry some water to the top.  Scarf or Bandana will help.  Well set up path up the hill with railing & steps.  The last stretch of single rock has mini steps to the very top, that are dangerous to climb up/down.  The temple on the way down offered us lunch around noon.  The toilet in the middle of the hill is dark & poorly maintained.

River Arkavathy joins river cauvery at Mekedatu Sangama. scenic beauty of this place was amazing. One can cross the sangama by round shaped boats (INR 50 per person). Initially this place was not there in our itinerary. As hogenakkal waterfalls was closed due to flood, this place was included. Around 100 KM from hogenakkal. Perfect place for one day outing from Bangalore (100 km).
