I just spent a week at "the beachhouse" in Arthur Bay on Magnetic Island how good is this spot. The Beachhouse is available through "best of magnetic" The place is fantastic it's the only house in the bay so you have the place to yourself people do come down to the beach but generally by 4-30 / 5 o'clock you have the whole place to yourself. There is nothing better than being the first person to leave your footprints on the beach at sunrise. The kookaburras are super friendly you can hear the Wallabies at night and a heap of other birds and butterflies while you're sitting on the balcony. I highly recommend this place for groups or families that want to indulge them selves having the swimming pool at the front of the house is just an added bonus if you can't be bothered walking the hundred steps to the beach. There are canoes and paddleboard's supplied with the house and going out in the paddleboard on sunrise is a spectacular way to start the day.had a couple of great barbecues around the pool and had some champagne breakfasts on the balcony. At the turn off to at the bay is the fort walks we get to see koalas in the trees during your walk. Can't recommend this place enough.

The great thing about Magnetic Island is that it has been protected from over-development. It has retained its natural beauty from the first time I visited the place in 1993. Whilst there has been some progress where there are some good accommodation, eating and entertainment options now, its a great place to just unwind and unplug. No better place on the island is Alma Bay. Because of its location on the island, and the absence of mangrove creeks nearby, it is protected from infestation of box jellyfish making it the perfect place to swim all year round. There are plenty of shady trees and its patrolled daily by a lifesaver so its perfect for families but also newlyweds as its just so peaceful. A day spent here and your soul will be restored.

If it's nature you like, don't miss a walk through Northern Australia's largest colony of wild koalas on Magnetic Island. The remarkable Forts Walk is the best vantage point for wildlife, spectacular rocky coves and historic military sites. With 360 degree sweeping views of the coast and Coral Sea, this is a walk guaranteed to impress. Home to the best preserved WWII fortification on the eastern seaboard, the Magnetic Island Forts Walk is a reminder of just how close Australia came to being invaded. The walk includes The Forts gun emplacements which are still intact and offers interpretive signage along the way, providing a great insight into the significance of the area. Enjoy this walk in the early morning or late afternoon for the best chance of spotting koalas. Be sure to take water and wear appropriate walking shoes as there are some steep climbs on this walk. I’ve done this walk several times and never tire of it. The walk is about 2 hours and has some of the best views anywhere on Maggie. There’s some really interesting history about the fortifications during WW2 and we’ve always seen koalas up in the gumtrees. It’s not too strenuous, anyone reasonably fit can do it easily. Just wear proper footwear, not thongs, sandals or bare feet. If you get up early enough, and the weather is favourable, you should get a stunning sunrise...(although I haven’t done it yet!)

The walk from behind Nelly Bay, up, over and down into Arcadia is challenging but not too much. A good workout for you. The path on the upward journey is very rocky through the rainforest. Streams to be crossed. Care is often necessary when choosing foot placement! We did this walk on 30th December and the sky opened up at the start, so we walked most of it drenched. The more open section has a forest of lovely grass trees, with an 'other world' feel. It would be a great site for a movie with huge boulders covered in green lichen, the Grass Trees, black trunked trees with spooky arm shapes, rocky streams and Drop Bears. This trail is an interesting adventure. It would be a bit too much for children under about six years old I'd say. At the end we rambled into the Drop Bear Cafe for a well earned Drop Bear Burger. Oh, and we saw one "Drop Bear" along the walk, Arcadia end, near the waterfall. Recommended adventure!

We went here specifically to feed the wallabies. We were told around 5pm is a good time to go so we went at 5pm. There were plenty of them around at that time. We had been to the Bungalow Bay Koala Village so we bought some wallaby feed there to take with us. Other people were feeding them carrots or apple, if you don't want to buy feed at the Koala Village. We were able to get some wallabies to eat right out of your hand, which is really cool. Most of them are quite nervous so won't come right up to you, however some are much less worried. This is a must do attraction. Well worth a visit.

We took the ferry over to Magnetic Island (Maggie) using a super sunrise deal (google this!) We ended up catching a bus from the ferry terminal in Nelly Bay to the other side at Horseshoe Bay then made our walk back on foot visiting pretty much every bay and beach along the way coming across excellent lookouts also! We were told how beautiful this island really was and told it was a must see but we had no idea we would find it to me this magical... straight out of a fairy tale! We had an amazing morning with Adam. He is very knowledgeable about the island and the wrecks which surround it. The snorkeling was absolutely brilliant, saw so many fish and some baby black tipped reef sharks. We did some fishing and Adam knew just where to go. He put on an excellent morning tea.If you get the chance make sure you go on this tour you will not be disappointed.

This beach is well worth the visit. It is simply gorgeous and the water is amazing. There were a lot of people there when we visited who had mostly walked/hiked. We took our 4wd and it was definitely the worst ‘road’ we’ve ever driven on. Will definitely visit again if we have our 4wd on the island.
