10 Nature & Parks in Barcelona That You Shouldn't Miss

May 26, 2021 Misti Hsu

Barcelona feels a bit surreal – appropriate, since Salvador Dali spent time here and Spanish Catalan architect Antoni Gaudí designed several of the city’s buildings. Stepping into Gaudí’s Church of the Sacred Family is a bit like falling through the looking glass - a journey that you can continue with a visit to Park Güell. Sip sangria at a sidewalk café in Las Ramblas while watching flamboyant street performers, then create your own moveable feast by floating from tapas bar to tapas bar.

Parc de la Ciutadella

The 44 acres (18 hectares) are home to Castell dels Tres Dragons, the Umbracle (plant house) and Hivernacle (glass house).

One of the larger parks in central Barcelona, Parc de la Ciutadella has alot to offer, being near the Zoo (which requires a ticket purchase), as well as some other historic landmarks like the Castle of the Three Dragons. However, even if you arent the photo-taking type, this park has alot of sitting areas (benches or grass patches) where you can escape the crowds in other parts of Barcelona. There are also many locals who use the space for exercise or practising their hobbies so you almost feel like you are immersing with everyday life here. Spent a good few hours here just wandering around and lazing with friends in a very people-friendly green space!

Montjuic Hill overlooking Barcelona offers a superb panoramic view over the city and a range of attractions which makes it a full day destination, including the National Art gallery and th 1992 Olympic stadium nearby. More air and breze up here on very hot summer days when the city itself can be oppressive.

There are several interesting constructions inside the Parc which makes it an interesting place for an outing with the family. The main attraction is the maze in the center of the park. El Puerto de Barcelona

Reviewed By bunicu65 - Constanta, Romania

Do not miss this for the world if you are in Barcelona. It has a quite expensive commercial center(MareMagnum), nice places to eat or have a beer, a very clean wooden platform(washed every morning), cleaner than I had in my hotel room, excellent places to sit and relax by the sea, to watch all the cruise vessels, the yachts, small boats coming and going out. If you are there at around 19.00, you can see a big passenger vessel approaching and mooring in the narrow part of the port(the one closer to the wooden platform). Impressive indeed!!! Great maneuver of that captain.

Mossen Costa i Llobera Gardens

I have visited a few times as this is one of my favourite parks in Barcelona. It is very quiet and relaxing with hundreds of different types of cacti. It is very well maintained and the perfect spot for a stroll to escape the business of the city. Take the metro to Paral-lel and walk the rest of the way up. From there you can easily get to the rest of Montjuic.
