Chocolaterie-Musee Puyodebat

PUYODEBAT'S chocolate factory was born of passion and work of Valérie and Christophe PUYODEBAT in Bayonne, rue d'Espagne, in 1999. Nevertheless they were cramped in the center of the city so they decided with the support of Cambo-les-bains local council in 2009, the opening of a 'Chocolate Factory-Museum-Shop concept' on more than 700 square meters, following the marks of the two biggest chocolate factories in bask country, the Maison Fagalde and the Maison Noblia. Christophe PUYODEBAT, craftsman and chocolate-maker, but non-descended from chocolate-makers families have been looking since 1999 to promote local artisans, traditional values and direct professional relationships with local producers all around the world (Brazil, Ecuador, Mexico, Dominican Islands, etc.) He came from Lourdes and he rubbed shoulders with famous chocolate-makers in Paris, so quite naturally, he decided to pay tribute to them through discoveries and creations today in the Bask-Country, capital of chocolate. Chocolate lollipops, chocolate with Espelette's hot chili pepper spread, craquinette (homemade specialty) and other products are waiting for you!

Villa Arnaga

The author of Cyrano de Bergerac created a sumptuous theatrical decor for his dream home. The charming French and English gardens delight the visitor with their romantic walks. A veritable «poem in stone and vegetation», the Villa Arnaga has to be explored or reexplored :In 2014, you'll have the opportunity to admire the renewed gardens similar to the ones imagined by Edmond Rostand with their box wood embroideries, their topiary bushes, their plant vases, their mirror like pools. The "poets' corner " will surprise you with its lattice work. In a word a typical French garden with its perfectly geometrical design ! Open daily from April 1 to November 1. From April to June and September to November : 9:30 to 12:30 and 14h to 18h . In July and August : 10h -19h . In 2020, due to the Covid epidemic, our opening hours are modified. The gorgeous, highly individual rooms make perfect backdrops to the creative talents of the Rostand family in early 20th Century. The formal gardens echo the perspective. Unfortunately no tearoom because of the Confinement but nevertheless, a deligtful outing.

A great museum, tells you the history of the French paratroopers but what really made it for us was our guide, a paratrooper himself, he really brought it all to life. Definitely recommend a visit if in the area....
