10 Museums in Pioneer Square That You Shouldn't Miss

February 28, 2022 Margarita Chappel

In Seattle you simply can’t skip the Central Public Library – a modern architectural marvel of glass grids, unusual shapes, and a “book spiral” that climbs four stories. Stroll over to Pike Place Market to visit the original Starbucks and play catch with a fishmonger. In the heart of the city lies Chihuly Garden and Glass, which will dazzle you with its colorful and delicate works. Glide to the top of the Space Needle for panoramic views of the surrounding mountain ranges and Puget Sound.

Last Resort Fire Department

I stumbled across this gem during a few hours layover in Seattle, and was glad for the time spent here. That day it was staffed by a retired Battalion Chief from Bremerton, who was always available to answer questions. Between the stories documenting the toughest/biggest fires, the equipment used over the years, and finally the wide array of apparatus in the bay, there's plenty here for the fire and/or history buffs.

Jim Ritter was an awesome host! He was so full of information and it made our tour superb. As a retired officer myself from another state, I was more than impressed! Thank you Jim for making our tour memorable!
